1. El acuerdo de licencia fiduciaria liberado bajo la GFDL y la CC-by-sa
Hacer que los proyectos de Software Libre sean mantenibles legalmente es cada vez más importante. Esto incluye mantener la capacidad para cambiar la licencia, asegurar su cumplimiento y que los derechos de autor estén claros.
El Acuerdo de Licencia Fiduciaria (ALF) es una asignación de derechos de autor creada cuidadosamente para ayudar a los proyectos de Software Libre a consolidar sus derechos de autor, asignándolos a una organización o persona concreta.

El ALF se creó y distribuyó en 2002 con autorización para que los usuarios la pudiesen usar para sus propósitos. La FSFE ha publicado una nueva versión de la FLA bajo los términos de las licencias Free Documentation License (GFDL) y Creative Commons Attribution/Share-alike (CC by-sa).
Un proyecto puede elegir entre formar parte del programa fiduciario de la FSFE y usar la red legal de la Freedom Task Force, o adaptar el FLA para consolidar los derechos de autor en su propia organización usando sus propios expertos legales.

2. La FSFE anuncia un gran sorteo entre todos los Fellows
Al igual que otros años, la FSFE quiere agradecer el apoyo a todos sus Fellows, cuya labor es esencial para que nuestro trabajo sea posible. Por este motivo, varias empresas han donado dispositivos y libros para que sean sorteados en el sorteo de la Fellowship de 2007, que se celebrará el 1 de abril de 2007. 3. La FSFE en FOSDEM en Bruselas (Bélgica)
Al igual en anteriores años, la Free Software Foundation Europa estuvo presente con un stand en la FOSDEM, una de las mayores conferencias de Software Libre de Europa. Este año, la FSFE compartió stand con su organización asociada española, la Fundación Conocimiento Libre.
Shane Coughlan presentó la Freedom Task Force y Georg Greve dio la conferencia de clausura con una charla titulada «Más allá de la GPLv3». Nos agrada especialmente el número de miembros y voluntarios de la FSFE, una veintena, que compartieron trabajo en nuestro stand, contestando preguntas y charlando con los visitantes interesados.

4. Ciarán O'Riordan en la SkyCon en Limerick (Irlanda)
Ciarán O'Riordan representó a la FSFE en la conferencia científica SkyCon. Habló sobre la GPLv3, dando información de su estado actual y del trabajo que queda por hacer.
5. Acaba la beca de Maria Luisa Carli
La primera becaria en la oficina de Zürich de la FSFE y Freedom Task Force, Maria Luisa Carli, ha regresado a Italia después del FOSDEM para finalizar sus estudios. Marilu tiene pensado permanecer implicada en las actividades de la FSFE.

6. Semana de Murphy para los administradores de sistemas
Febrero fue un mes difícil para los administradores de sistemas de la FSFE. El mes comenzó con una avería en uno de los servidores principales, quedando fuera de servicio debido a un fallo en cada uno de los discos del RAID-1; a continuación, y casi simultáneamente, un apagón en la red de respaldo dejo inaccesible todas la máquinas con las copias de seguridad.
Estos problema no sólo afectaron al sitio principal de la FSFE, también afectaron a nuestra organización hermana en Latinoamérica, a la que apoyamos con un servidor virtual. Trabajamos para restablecer el servicio sobre otra máquina, y esperamos poder poner en marcha el servidor averiado pronto.
La infraestructura de la FSFE depende principalmente de voluntarios, incluyendo el portal de la Fellowship, la mejora i expansión del cual está pausada por la falta de tiempo de los administradores y los programadores. 7. Manténgase activo: ¡Únase al proyecto SELF!
SELF (Science, Education and Learning in Freedom - Ciencia, Educación y Aprendizaje en Libertad) es un proyecto para desarrollar una plataforma colaborativa para la creación de material educacional con Software Libre y estándares abiertos. También intentará iniciar los contenidos de la plataforma. El proyecto esta subvencionado con fondos de la Comisión Europea por dos años, desde el verano de 2006 hasta el verano de 2008.
Durante la primera mitad del año, se centró en examinar el contenido existente. Ahora nos encontramos en la primera fase del proyecto, desarrollando la plataforma (labor realizada por el Centro Homi Bhabha del Science Education en Mumbai) y en conversaciones sobre el material existente.
