Ah, yes.  That's probably the most important reason; what I pointed
out is secondary.

Yeah, it's nice that these cloacae gather almost all of the noise.
Still, there are mailing lists/newsgroups (like gnu.misc.discuss) that
are nearly impossible to follow without resorting to plonk...
