Gibt es Interessenten für einen Firmeninkubator? Mit Open Source schaffen wir immerhin auch Möglichkeiten für neue Firmengründungen, aber die Open Source "Community" hat wenig zu bieten was Firmeninkubatoren angeht, die wirklich gezielt mit Open Source Inhalten Firmen gründen. Ich würde das Theme einfach mal gerne allgemein zur Diskussion stellen. Ich habe aber auch gleich eine ganze Reihe brauchbarer Ideen, wenn sich Interessenten finden für konkrete Projekte.

Ich könnte jetzt beispielsweise zynisch bemerken, dass freiberufliche EDV Berater zuviel verdienen und ihren Anteil an der Gesamtverantwortung für das Recht auf Arbeit http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recht_auf_Arbeit nicht sehr überzeugend übernehmen. Die Begründung verläuft so: Deutschland hat die Menschenrechte ratifiziert, aber das Recht auf Arbeit geht irgendwo verloren, weil es gibt ja Arbeitslose.
Die Bundesregierung würde vermutlich sagen, dass sie im Dialog mit der Wirtschaft steht. Dann hätte aber die Wirtschaft diese Verantwortung aufzuteilen. Jedes Wirtschaftsunternehmen hätte also irgendwie - z.B. nach vorhandenen Ressourcen - einen Teil der Verantwortung zu tragen.

Nein, aber im ernst, ich finde die "Community" bietet sehr wohl Orte an denen Unternehmer zusammenkommen und sich austauschen können und ich denke Zusammenhalt und gegenseitige Förderung im Umfeld Freier bzw. Open Source Software zeigt recht gesunde Formen.
Bestimmt gibt es Wege eine weitere Verbesserung zu erreichen.
In welche Richtung gehen also deine Ideen? Wenn du etwas auf die Beine stellen möchtest, dann trage das ruhig an uns heran. Allein den nächstbesten Begriff aus der "Business Cloud" in den Raum zu werfen reicht dazu nicht aus.

Ich hätte z.B. Interesse eine Softwarefirma aufzubauen, die aus ein paar Open Source Programmen etwas rundere Produkte macht, die dann aber nicht in höchster Vollendung verschenkt werden, sondern ganz normal verkauft werden.
Der source code kann dann immer noch offen sein, aber man bekommt halt nicht das fertige Produkte mit Handbuch serviert, bloss weil man make eingegeben hat. Die Distributionslizenz (oder compilation license http://projects.opensource.org/pipermail/license-discuss/2013-September/001225.html) wäre also eine andere als die GPL, was einen aber nicht davon abhalten muss den source code unter GPL zu veröffentlichen.
OpenOffice z.B. ließe sich noch sehr aufwerten, wenn man das wollte. Die Frage ist wie viel Qualität man verschenken möchte und ob das noch Sinn macht. Ich habe z.B. früher gerne andere Entwickler als Zielgruppe für meine Open Source Software gesehen. Das ich jetzt einen Couch-Potato-Endkunden beschenken möchte, der vor einem 4K Fernseher sitzt und dem auch unbekannt und völlig egal ist wer die Software für den Fernseher geschrieben hat fällt mir persönlich eigentlich gar nicht ein.
Eine ganz andere Idee: Ein Firmeninkubator könnte auch Privatschulen inkubieren. Wir haben in Deutschland einen Trend zu mehr Privatschulen, was ich auch sehr sinnvoll finde. Wir haben hier auch gleich einen sehr guten Ratschlag dazu von rms: „Die fundamentalste Aufgabe der Schule ist es zum mündigen Bürger zu erziehen, was die Gewohnheit anderen zu helfen einschließt.“ [Why Schools Should Exclusively Use Free Software http://www.gnu.org/education/edu-schools.html] Das halte ich für einen ganz ausgezeichneten Tip für Lehrer oder Schulbetreiber.
Nebenbei sagt Artikel 7 (4) GG http://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/gg/art_7.html: "Das Recht zur Errichtung von privaten Schulen wird gewährleistet." Die Gründung von Privatschulen ist also ein Grundrecht in Deutschland.
Man kann die beiden Ideen auch gut kombinieren, beispielsweise wäre Open Office eine mögliche Basis für eine Smartboard Software für Schulen.
Eine andere schöne Idee, die ich gestern hatte war das ExtJS framework mit Java peers auszustatten, so dass man ExtJS quasi wie Swing verwenden könnte, oder halt gleich das Apache Harmony Webplugin weiterentwickeln und das verkorkste Sicherheitssystem austauschen, z.B. in dem man den I/O komplett mit cookies, HTML5 web storage und HTML5 web database ersetzt. (Keine Speicherung, kein Sicherheitsproblem).

Ich weiß nicht wieviel Geld Oracle mit OpenOffice macht. Offenbar war es in der Vergangenheit zuwenig, denn sonst hätten sie Code und Rechte nicht an die Apache Software Foundation übertragen.

Ist jetz eh schon hinfällig, da in den anderen Antworten hinreichend erklärt (keine Ahnung warum meine Mail vom Montag erst heute auf der Liste angekommen ist).
Deine ursprüngliche Meldung "OpenOffice -> Oracle -> ..." hat nahegelegt, OpenOffice wäre ein Oracle Produkt, kein Apache Produkt. Als ob Oracle bei Apache anschaffen würde, was die mit den Markenrechten machen bzw. die Marke gar noch selbst besitzen würden…

Zum fraglichen Zeitpunkt gab es die Stiftung als juristische Person noch nicht. Es existierte also die rechtliche Entität noch nicht, an die Oracle seinerzeit hätte etwas abtreten können. (Ob und wann die beabsichtigte deutsche Stiftung Rechtsfähigkeit erlangen würde, war meines Wissens nach damals nicht einmal absehbar.)

Die Antwort darauf ist ein klares Nein.
Zum fraglichen Zeitpunkt gab es die Stiftung als juristische Person noch nicht.
Der lange etablierte Verein OpenOffice.org Deutschland e.V. hatte damals treuhänderisch Marken registriert und die Interessen der Community wahrgenommen (und war folgerichtig dann auch Anfang 2011 Stifterin der TDF).
Es existierte also die rechtliche Entität noch nicht, an die Oracle seinerzeit hätte etwas abtreten können.
Siehe oben, es war sehr wohl eine Körperschaft unter Community-Kontrolle vorhanden. Außerdem hat Oracle ohnehin nie Rechte an Sourcecode übertragen, sondern denselben nur relizenziert. :)

An der Stelle hätte ich Interesse mich einzubringen bzgl. der Wissensvermittlung um Freie Software und den Aufbau von unterrichtsunterstützenden Systemen im Klassenzimmer- bzw. Gebäudeumfeld.
Man kann die beiden Ideen auch gut kombinieren, beispielsweise wäre Open Office eine mögliche Basis für eine Smartboard Software für Schulen.
Mir fallen da geeignetere Sachen ein. Das einzige was LibreOffice auf Smartboards imho. sinnvoll tun kann ist vorgefertigte Präsentationen anzeigen. Tafelbilder live erweitern, zugreifbar machen, modularisieren und austauschen findet eine wahrscheinlich eine geeignetere Basis in Software wie Inkscape, MyPaint, Xournal und Systemen, die es wahrscheinlich so richtig noch nicht gibt.

Also früher einmal, als ich noch jung war, da hat der Lehrer ständig an der Tafel schreiben müssen, und wir waren sogar dreißig Schüler und manchmal noch mehr. Aber wir hatten ja auch nichts damals.
Vorgefertigte Layer in Inkscape nach bedarf einblenden und annotieren zu können dürfte jedenfalls mehr Pepp in den Unterricht bringen als PowerPo... ääh Impress-Slides anzuzeigen. Hinzu kommt die Austauschbarkeit von Tafelbildern, die unter "Feldbedingungen" entstanden sind. Slides sind auch nicht so der Hammer dafür.
Scheinbar sind Whiteboards aber gerade in dem Zustand, in dem Handheldcomputer in den 90ern waren. Leistungsstarke, teure Geräte, deren Softwarestack vom Hersteller bis zur Nutzlosigkeit vernachlässigt ist. Und alle so: Yeah, Innovation!

Zu Ihrer Information schicke ich Ihnen den folgenden Leserbrief, den ich auch der Stiftung Warentest, der Verbraucherschutzzentrale NRW (Rubrik "Beschwerden über Anbieter -> Hinweise auf unseriöse Geschäftspraktiken") und der Wettbewerbszentrale geschickt habe. Die Firma HRS.de nutzt in ihrer Hotelliste für Köln einen "Smiley", der das Hotel als "besonders hervorzuhebendes Hotel in seiner Kategorie" markieren soll. Dieser Smiley ist aber sehr selten und in Köln wird er nur verwendet um das Hotel "Savoy" zu markieren, dass auch der Familie Ragge gehört. Laut dem Artikel "LG Berlin: „Gekauftes“ Ranking auf Hotelbuchungsportal untersagt" http://www.kostenlose-urteile.de/LG-Berlin_16-O-41811_LG-Berlin-Gekauftes-Ranking-auf-Hotelbuchungsportal-untersagt.news12233.htm?sk=10289efbbacdfb0b56d7aab54ef05785 hat das Landgericht Berlin diese Praxis mit dem Urteil25.08.2011 - 16 O 418/11 - für rechtswidrig erklärt. Die Dienste der Firmen Pegasus Solutions und OANDA.com wurden auch ohne ausreichende Lizensierung kommerziell mit Software genutzt, die ich selbst entwickelt habe. Ich hätte vermutlich zu der Spezifikation von Pegasus Solutions noch nicht einmal Zugang haben dürfen, da ich zu der Zeit mit HRS.com keinerlei Vertrag hatte (vertragsbrüchig ist also die Firma HRS).

die Stiftung Warentest ist nicht der TÜV, aber Sie betreiben selbst eine Webseite. In Ihrem Testbericht"https://www.test.de/themen/freizeit-reise/test/Reisebuchung-im-Internet-Klic..." haben Sie Webseiten Betreiber getestet und sogar gefragt, ob diese ihre Seiten verändert hätten, wie Sie im Bericht erwähnen. Was Sie nicht gefragt haben ist wie das System hinter der Webseite aussieht und welche Standards man hat. Ich habe bei der Firma HRS 2002 als EDV Berater gearbeitet und kann Ihnen verraten, dass die Firma keinen Datenschutzbeauftragten hatte (der Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen wurde informiert), die EDV Standards völlig lächerlich waren (bis zum Verlust von Datenbankeinträgen mit Buchungsdaten), die Informationssicherheit völlig lächerlich war (kein Zugriffsschutz außer dem Login am Arbeitsplatz aber Zugriff auf vollständige Kreditkartendaten) und meine Maßnahmen zum Schutz der Kreditkartendaten wurden sogar auf Anweisung der Geschäftsleitung rückgängig gemacht. Was Sie wohl nicht erfahren hätten ist, dass die Firma HRS sich die Datenbank der Firma Pegasus Solutions vertragswidrig kopiert hat (die man pro Quartal für einige tausend Euro auf CD hätte abonnieren können). Statt dessen (und gegen meinen Vorschlag die Daten zu abonnieren) wurden die Daten von Pegasus Solutions über das Netz ausgelesen. Die Firma HRS hat außerdem eine sehr geringe unternehmerische Gesellschaftsverantwortung (CSR), zahlt geringe Löhne, ist beim Arbeitsgericht gut bekannt und sorgt für schlechtes Arbeitsklima und Arbeitsbedingungen. Der Familie Ragge gehört außerdem noch das Savoy Hotel Köln, das prompt bei HRS mit einem "Smiley" für ein "besonders hervorzuhebendes Hotel in seiner Kategorie" erscheint. Eine Bewertung, die sehr selten und möglicherweise käuflich ist, oder anderen Geschäftsinteressen dient.
Der Bericht wurde, wie Sie schreiben, außerdem von der Europäischen Kommission gefördert. Dazu würde ich gerne noch folgendes Zitat anbringen:
"Die Mitgliedstaaten und die Kommission haben zur Ausarbeitung von Verhaltenskodizes zu ermutigen. Dies beeinträchtigt nicht die Freiwilligkeit dieser Kodizes und die Möglichkeit der Beteiligten, sich nach freiem Ermessen einem solchen Kodex zu unterwerfen."

Ich habe z.B. früher gerne andere Entwickler als Zielgruppe für meine Open Source Software gesehen. Das ich jetzt einen Couch-Potato-Endkunden beschenken möchte, der vor einem 4K Fernseher sitzt und dem auch unbekannt und völlig egal ist wer die Software für den Fernseher geschrieben hat fällt mir persönlich eigentlich gar nicht ein.
Eine ganz andere Idee: Ein Firmeninkubator könnte auch Privatschulen inkubieren. Wir haben in Deutschland einen Trend zu mehr Privatschulen, was ich auch sehr sinnvoll finde. Wir haben hier auch gleich einen sehr guten Ratschlag dazu von rms: „Die fundamentalste Aufgabe der Schule ist es zum mündigen Bürger zu erziehen, was die Gewohnheit anderen zu helfen einschließt.“ [Why Schools Should Exclusively Use Free Software http://www.gnu.org/education/edu-schools.html] Das halte ich für einen ganz ausgezeichneten Tip für Lehrer oder Schulbetreiber.
Nebenbei sagt Artikel 7 (4) GG http://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/gg/art_7.html: "Das Recht zur Errichtung von privaten Schulen wird gewährleistet." Die Gründung von Privatschulen ist also ein Grundrecht in Deutschland.
Man kann die beiden Ideen auch gut kombinieren, beispielsweise wäre Open Office eine mögliche Basis für eine Smartboard Software für Schulen.
Eine andere schöne Idee, die ich gestern hatte war das ExtJS framework mit Java peers auszustatten, so dass man ExtJS quasi wie Swing verwenden könnte, oder halt gleich das Apache Harmony Webplugin weiterentwickeln und das verkorkste Sicherheitssystem austauschen, z.B. in dem man den I/O komplett mit cookies, HTML5 web storage und HTML5 web database ersetzt. (Keine Speicherung, kein Sicherheitsproblem).

Anekdote nebenbei: Ich wollte doch bei HRS mal einen zweiten Consultant vorstellen und habe mich aus nicht völlig logischen Gründen für den Kommilitionen Schiefer entschieden.
Der Herr Schiefer hat seinem WG Genossen und Kommilitionen Lüders mal ziemlich vorsätzlich die Hand verrenkt oder sogar gebrochen, so dass dieser ins Krankenhaus kam, es handelt sich bei ihm also sozusagen um "Bad Company".
Nun hatte ich den Herr Schiefer noch nicht eingestellt da hat ihn mir die Firma HRS schon abgeworben, obwohl der bei mir eigentlich "in Ausbildung" war, das hatten die Experten von HRS aber nicht begriffen und waren eigentlich auch nicht in der Lage ihn auszubilden.
Und so begab es sich anno 2013 dass die Firma HRS den *SHIVA Bad Company Award* bekam.

Der Herr Ragge hatte offenbar auch die Angewohnheit zumindest gelegentlich Leute mit Namen einzustellen, die er witzig fand, daher könnte man es ja als plausibel ansehen, dass er dafür irgendwann die Rechnung bekommt, weil anonyme Bewerbungen sind das nicht.

Scherz: Die Allgemeinheit müsste doch dankbar sein wenn Programmierer und insbesondere Open Source Programmierer nicht zu produktiv sind, weil gute Programmierer sind nunmal potentiell recht erfolgreiche Kapitalisten. Nun also meine Produktivität wäre in der Karibik so gesehen sicher "besser" ;-)

Wenn Du der alleinige Schöpfer des Quellcodes bist, kannst Du machen, was Du willst. Andernfalls würde ich dringend davon abraten, das Kompilat eines GPL-Quellcodes unter eine andere Lizenz zu stellen.

Das mag jeder halten wie er will, aber Diskriminierung verstößt auch gegen die Open Source Definition (Ziffer 5).
OpenOffice ist nun unter der APL - mach' damit was Du willst. Nur für die Verwendung des Namens bedarf es einer Erlaubnis der ASF.
Im Übrigen ist die API offengelegt, sodass man auch Extensionen schreiben kann.

Selbstverständlich kann ich eine Kompilation unter einer beliebigen Lizenz veröffentlichen. Auf Anfrage muss ich nur den source code und alle Änderungen und Ergänzungen zur Verfügung stellen, aber dafür muss der Anfragende die Kompilation von mir erhalten haben, also im konkreten Fall müsste er das Produkt vorher gekauft haben.
Ich darf natürlich den source code auch per git der Öffentlichkeit weitergeben, aber das ist pure Höflichkeit. Das kostenlose Verteilen von Binaries ebenso.

Auf Anfrage muss ich nur den source code und alle Änderungen und Ergänzungen zur Verfügung stellen, aber dafür muss der Anfragende die Kompilation von mir erhalten haben, also im konkreten Fall müsste er das Produkt vorher gekauft haben.
Ich darf natürlich den source code auch per git der Öffentlichkeit weitergeben, aber das ist pure Höflichkeit. Das kostenlose Verteilen von Binaries ebenso.
Wenn Du meinen Rat nicht nötig hast, werde ich ihn Dir keineswegs aufdrängen.
Ich achte Deine Mündigkeit und Deine Bereitschaft, die Verantwortung für Dein Tun zu tragen.

Man könnte auch erlauben die ExtJS Java peers mittels Vererbung zu erweitern. Man müsste nur auf der JavaScript Seite dem jeweiligen Objekt eine Markierung verpassen, dass es eine Superklasse ist und jeder Methode eine Markierung geben, dass sie überladen wurde. Überladene Methoden müssen natürlich dann auf dem Server aufgerufen werden, rufen aber mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit zurück in die Superklasse auf dem Client.
Das Witzige daran wäre, dass sich damit Amateure völlig in I/O Problemen verheddern können, die sie nicht mehr überschauen, weil sie gar nicht mehr überblicken wieviel I/O die ein oder andere abgeleitete Klasse erzeugt und das die Server möglicherweise nicht mehr besonders gut skalieren.
