ich möchte mich künftig mehr dem Thema ERP (dem ich seit 1996 beruflich treu bin) und freie Software annehmen und ggf. auch Dienstleistungen dazu anbieten (tryton.org).
Was mich besonders stört ist das bislang die Diskussion häufig nur aus Lizenzkostensicht geführt wird.
Ich habe daher einen ersten Entwurf eines Textes gemacht (CC), der die Argumente aus meiner Sicht versucht darzustellen. Dieser Text soll als Werbung für freie ERP Systeme benutzt werden. Was meint ihr zu dem Text? Über Feedback würde ich mich sehr freuen.
Freiheit und ERP ----------------
Freiheit meint nicht gratis. Es stimmt zwar das freie Software meist lizenzkostenfrei ist, da sie uneingeschränkt vervielfältigbar ist. Das ist jedoch nur ein nebensächlicher Aspekt freier Software.
Der viel wichtigere Eigenschaft freier Software ist die Freiheit die sie dem Nutzer gewährt. Gerade im ERP Bereich ist diese Freiheit essentiell, da diese Software das Unternehmen steuert. Diese Steuerung in fremde Hände zu legen ist problematisch.
Proprietäre Anbieter nehmen den Kunden nach der Kaufentscheidung durch ihre Monopolstellung in geiselhaft. Nicht so freie Software die im Gegensatz dazu die vier Freiheiten: Verwenden, Verbreiten, Verbessern und Verstehen garantiert. Erst diese Freiheiten ermöglichen die selbstbestimmte, statt fremdbestimmte Steuerung des eigenen Unternehmens.
Bei freier Software gibt es keinen einzelnen Hersteller mit uneingeschränkter Macht, sondern ein Netzwerk gleichberechtigter Programmierer, Implementierer und Nutzer. Durch Kooperation entsteht ein Nutzen für alle. Änderungen und Anpassungen, die praktisch bei jeder ERP Implementierung gemacht werden müssen, da Unternehmen hochgradig individuell sind, können allen Netzteilnehmern zu gute kommen. Doppelgleisigkeiten werden vermieden, ein freier Markt an technischen Lösungen ohne Monopol entsteht.
Die Nutzung freier ERP Software ist daher neben dem strategischen Nutzen für das Unternehmen ein Beitrag zur Gemeinwohlökonomie und Nachhaltigkeit unserer Gesellschaft.

Gerade bei ERP Systemen ist die Funktionalität freier Systeme (noch?) gering im Vergleich. Häufig bieten proprietäre ERP System auch Zugriff auf den Source und Veränderungsmöglichkeiten des Codes für den Kunden, sind also aus dessen Sicht so etwas wie "Open Source". Strategisch frei sind sie aber deswegen nicht. Die technische Eigenschaft des offenen Sourcecodes greift also zu kurz.

Warum sollte man einen Unternehmer darauf hinweisen, was er nicht kann?

Aus meiner Sicht hat es natuerlich etwas mit dem politischen Aspekt zu tun. Aber trotzdem verbinde ich Freie Software mit IT (= Information Technology).
Gerade bei ERP Systemen ist die Funktionalität freier Systeme (noch?) gering im Vergleich.
Das mag' sein. Ich hab' darueber mit jemanden gesprochen, der frueher SAP Systeme betreut hat. Diese Person meinte, dass es bei freie Software niemanden gibt, der Patches, die gesetzliche Aenderungen z.B. in der Lohnabrechnung im ERP Systemen implementieren, garantiert rechtzeitig bereit stellt. Und sollten diese Patches nicht rechtzeitig bereit gestellt werden, dann kann das betroffene Unternehmen die naechste Lohnabrechnung nicht gesetzeskonform abwickeln.

das ist genau das Problem. Es bestehen hier eklatante Verständnisprobleme.
Wie machen laut Meinung des SAP Beraters das Unternehmen die ein komplett eigen entwickeltes ERP haben (und das sind gar nicht einmal so wenige Unternehmen)? Wer garantiert hier für Gesetzeskonformität?
Mit frei oder proprietär hat das nichts zu tun, sondern wer für die Softwarepflege verantwortlich ist. Eigene IT, SAP oder beauftragter Dienstleister. Im Falle von proprietärer SW ist der Kunde jedoch in dieser Entscheidung meistens eingeschränkt. Meist ist er dem Hersteller z.B SAP völlig ausgeliefert. Wenn dieser den Support einstellt ist dieser zum (teuren) Upgrade gezwungen, oder die Wartungspreise werden erhöht. Der Kunde kann nichts dagegen tun, ein Herstellerwechsel kostet mehrere hundertausend Euro und 3 Jahre Zeit und ist ein hohes Risiko. Alles das passiert regelmäßig in der Branche, zum Nachteil der Kunden.
Deswegen hat freie SW aus meiner Sicht neben den ethischen Aspekten, handfeste betriebswirtschaftlich und strategische Vorteile. Leider wird das häufig nicht verstanden.
Ich sehe auch das als meine Aufgabe das Verständnis für freie SW auch im Unternehmensbereich zu fördern.

Wenn es für Manager gedacht ist muss das gut durchargumentiert sein, da ja auch gerne die eigenen Mitarbeiter nur geleast werden. Ich würde argumentieren, dass es auf Kernkompetenz hinausläuft :-) und dass die Freiheit schlechte "was auch immer, z.b. Prozesse" zu verbessern da sein sollte, selbst wenn man es selbst nicht kann und einen Consultant engagiert.

Da ist halt wieder die Frage ob das den Leser kümmert. Bzw. ich würd da sogar eher eventuelle Angst nehmen und sagen: Auch mit freier Software können Sie Ihre Firmengeheimisse für sich behalten.

Ditto, also ich finds ja schön, aber ich stell mir aber da einfach einen anderen Leser vor. Jemand der Gemeinwohlökonomie und Nachhaltigkeit unserer Gesellschaft wichtig findet, braucht man imho von freier Software nicht zu überzeugen.

Ich habe die Formulierung ein wenig abgeschwächt, es sollte ja primär keine Negativwerbung sein.
Bei freier Software gibt es keinen einzelnen Hersteller mit uneingeschränkter Macht, sondern ein Netzwerk gleichberechtigter Programmierer, Implementierer und Nutzer. Durch Kooperation entsteht ein Nutzen für alle.
Also bei der Person die ich als Leser für so einen Text habe, zieht "der Nutzen für alle" eher nicht. Aber vielleicht stell ich mir jemand falschen vor,

können allen Netzteilnehmern zu gute kommen.
Da ist halt wieder die Frage ob das den Leser kümmert. Bzw. ich würd da sogar eher eventuelle Angst nehmen und sagen: Auch mit freier Software können Sie Ihre Firmengeheimisse für sich behalten.

Doppelgleisigkeiten werden vermieden, ein freier Markt an technischen Lösungen ohne Monopol entsteht.
Die Nutzung freier ERP Software ist daher neben dem strategischen Nutzen für das Unternehmen ein Beitrag zur Gemeinwohlökonomie und Nachhaltigkeit unserer Gesellschaft.
Ditto, also ich finds ja schön, aber ich stell mir aber da einfach einen anderen Leser vor. Jemand der Gemeinwohlökonomie und Nachhaltigkeit unserer Gesellschaft wichtig findet, braucht man imho von freier Software nicht zu überzeugen.
Aus meiner Sicht sind die Zielgruppe für freie ERP Software Unternehmer, die auch z.B dem Gemeinwohlgedanken in sich tragen. Das ist sicher keine große Zielgruppe. Aber es gibt z.B eine stetig wachsende Anzahl von Unternehmen die Gemeinwohlbilanzen erstellen (https://www.ecogood.org/).
Mein Eindruck ist keinesfalls, dass in diesen Kreisen freie Software durchgängig verstanden bzw. eingesetzt wird. Ich habe überhaupt den Eindruck das freie Software hauptsächlich in Nerdkreisen verstanden und eingesetzt wird. Ein Umstand der mich sehr stört und ein Ansatzpunkt für mein Engagement und des Textes.
Die vorherrschenden klassischen "Manchenster Kapitalisten" wird man von freier Software nicht überzeugen können. Das möchte ich auch nicht.

Für das "nicht verstanden" kann so ein Text helfen, für das "nicht eingesetzt" muss es wahrscheinlich konkreter werden mit einem (deinem) Produkt und auch Hinweise darauf wo es Support gibt.

Wenn du meinst "freie Software" verglichen mit "Open Source" geb ich dir Recht, ansonsten hab ich schon auch andere Erfahrungen gemacht. (Wobei es dann natürlich kein geben+nehmen ist)
