Hallo Leute,
beim letzten Fellowship-Treffen in Wien habe ich erwähnt, dass im kommenden VGT-Magazin ein Artikel über Freie Software erscheinen würde. Nun ist es so weit.
Das Magazin haben Anfang des neuen Jahres zehntausende Leute zugeschickt bekommen und es wird auch noch einige Zeit an Infoständen des VGT verbreitet werden.

Leider wurde das Layout nicht meinen Wünschen entsprechend umgesetzt und deswegen ist der Text relativ anstrengend zu lesen, aber ich hoffe trotzdem, dass der Artikel einige neue Leute motiviert sich Freie Software genauer anzusehen.

guter Artikel! Mir ist beim Lesen nur aufgefallen, dass es ja eigentlich schon ziemlich seltsam ist, dass es online (zumindest meines Wissens) keinen einfachen und gut strukturierten Leitfaden für Leute, die auf ein GNU/Linux OS umsteigen wollen, gibt…
Eine Website, auf der sie die wesentlichen Infos für mehrere Szenarien finden, also wie sie z.B. ein Live-System ausprobieren können, welche es gibt, wie sich die unterscheiden und wo sie sie her bekommen. Oder wenn sie neue Hardware kaufen wollen: worauf zu achten ist, welche Bezugsquellen es gibt usw. usf.
Ich stell mir das eigentlich als Mischung aus einführenden Texten und Linksammlungen vor. Oder anders gesagt: man stelle sich vor, Franz wäre mit seiner Zeichenanzahl nicht auf eine Doppelseite beschränkt gewesen ;)
Mir hätte sowas vor einigen Jahren, als ich meine ersten Schritte mit Freier Software gemacht hab, sehr geholfen.

Hm, ich habe schon länger nicht danach gesucht, aber es stimmt: Wir sollten diese Lücke schließen. Gute Anregung, Stefan!

Ich bin irgendwie ein Fan des Einsatzes von MediaWiki – einfach weil es viele kennen (was die Schwelle, sich zu beteiligen, nochmal senkt). Kurz gesagt: mein Vorschlag wäre der, dass wir uns einen Namen bzw. Arbeitstitel für das Projekt überlegen (und eine passende Domain registrieren), ein MediaWiki installieren und einfach mal anfangen, daran zu arbeiten. Die Administration könnt ich sehr gern (mit)übernehmen.
Was meinst du, Franz? Haben wir da völlig unterschiedliche Vorstellungen?

Stimmt… Wäre zumindest eine Überlegung wert.
Ich denke aber wirklich nicht an eine Seite Text. Wenn das ganze hilfreich für Neulinge sein soll, müsste das meiner Ansicht nach ziemlich umfangreich werden.
Allein z.B. ein guter Einführungstext darüber, was Distributionen überhaupt sind, worin sie sich grob unterscheiden und wie sie auch unterschiedlichen Positionen bzw. Herangehensweisen innerhalb der Community widerspiegeln, ist wohl relativ lang.
Wenn man dann je nach Bedürfnissen, Nutzungs-Szenarien, Computerkenntnissen etc. noch Empfehlungen abgeben will, dann wird alleine das ein riesen Brocken…
Ich stelle mir ein Projekt quasi als Eingangstor in die Community vor. Wo man auch Hilfestellungen findet, wenn man sich z.B. "nur" überlegt, statt MS Office jetzt vielleicht doch mal eine freie Alternative auszuprobieren und sich (noch) gar keine Gedanken über den Wechsel zu einem GNU/Linux OS macht. Aber ebenso Texte darüber, welche Gefahr von binary blobs in coreboot ausgehen kann und auf welche Hardware man zurückgreifen kann, wenn man sich darauf nicht einlassen will.
Ich weiß, das klingt etwas größenwahnsinnig… ;) Aber eben das ist es, was meiner Ansicht nach fehlt.

spricht jetzt aber immer nochnix dagegen das auf besthender infrastuktur zu machen (wenn ma draufkommt das es anders doch besser ist kann ma immer noch umziehen, ich seh den hauptaufwand hier eher im content selber...

und? das sollte(tm) der server schon aushalten...wir muessen so oder so schaun das das wiki ein bisserl traffic aushaelt (und ich glaub nicht das wir gleich slashdot-effekt artigen traffic produzieren am anfang, auch wenns ja an und fuer sich gut is mit sowas eher mehr als weniger traffic zu produziren...)

Na das Fellowship-Wiki ist nicht unbedingt das nutzungsfreundlichste. Bei den ANkündigungen zum Fellowship-Treffen habe ich es glaube ich bisher ein einziges Mal geschafft einen korrekten Eintrag zu erstellen, der dann auch automatisch im Terminkalender erschien.
die frage ist nur, wer traut sich zu den content aufzubereiten?
Bruchstücke zu schreiben ist nicht so sehr das Problem. Die Schwierigkeit liegt wohl eher in der Aktualisierung und in der Abdeckung eines vernünftigen Spektrums.
Ich bastle gerne mal ein Konzept, sobald ich dazu komme.
Und wie gesagt ist Vieles ohnehin schon in der einen oder anderen Form geschrieben. Oft geht es nur um eine sinnvolle, praktikable Aufbereitung.
Ich würde mich im Übrigen hüten da Romane zu verfassen. Je kürzer wir das schaffen, umso besser. Das liest sonst ja eh kaum wer.
