Hi everyone,

I'm happy to report that Magnus Hagander has received the Nordic Free
Software Award, presented to him by Joonas earlier today. The Jury's
motivation:

Magnus is a core PostgreSQL developer, member of the first Executive Committee of PostgreSQL Europe, co-organizer of Stockholm PostgreSQL Meetup and a frequent speaker and organiser at various events all around the world.

In addition to critical and foundational technical work on PostgreSQL, Magnus has provided the practical and administrative implementation of the objectives of PostgreSQL Europe for ten years.

The Nordic Free Software Award is given to people, projects or organisations in the nordic countries who have made a prominent contribution to the advancement of Free Software.

Magnus receives the award as an individual, but in all three categories, as he has contributed to the successful institutionalisation of the prerequisites for Free Software in the field of relational databases.

Huge thanks to Joonas for stepping in to handle this in Gothenburg during
FOSS North, thanks to Johan Thelin for hosting us this morning, the jury
who did most of the hard thinking, and everyone else who contributed in the
process, on and off line!

There's an awesome photo of the prize here:

Let's do this again 2019 :-) I've put the announcement online here, and
also referenced past winners. I haven't determined where this ought to go
long term.
