Leonardo Chiariglione says that Steve Jobs in the following two parts of
his article is quite ambiguous and in some cases inaccurate.
1) Is not true that "All video codecs are covered by patents", perhaps
it is true for those who are more used today. There are codecs like
H.120 and H.261 that have many years of life and are not covered by patents.
2) Steve Jobs says: "A set of patents was created recently to Theora
codecs and other open source"
Leonardo Chiariglione says that he'd like to know the full names of the
authors of these patents (ironic/worried)

In the rest of the article Leonardo Chiariglione, taking as example the
Mozilla license, agrees with Steve Jobs on the two following issues:
1) Steve Jobs: “Unfortunately, just because something is open source, it
doesn’t mean or guarantee that it doesn’t infringe on others patents”
2) Steve Jobs: “An open standard is different from being royalty free or
open source”

Leonardo Chiariglione ends the article saying that there are different
ideas about what is "open standards" and can all be true.
It is "only" a matter of words, so would be useful to define them.

I do not know if it's easier for you to understand the Italian language
or MyEnglish :)
