* Can Trinity be called Trinity or TCD instead of "Dublin
  University"

Once upon a time, Dublin University could have become a
collegiate university (like Oxford or Cambridge) with
Trinity only one of its colleges. The societies (e.g. the netsoc) are university organisations. That's why netsoc is
called "Dublin University Internet Society". The same goes for things like departments, degrees, etc. On the other
hand, the land in the centre of the Dublin and the buildings
on it belong to Trinity College. So advertising the location
of the talk as "Trinity College" is correct.
