OpenXPhone and Google's G1

Mein Projekt OpenXPhone ist das Projekt, ein Gerät zu bauen, welches
Handy und *Mobiles X Terminal* in einem ist, und es Menschen, die sich
einen Computer nicht leisten können, z.B in der Dritten Welt,
ermöglichen wird, sich an einem Computer einzuloggen und zu lernen, ihn
zu bedienen. Es wird komplett auf Freier Software beruhen, wie z.B. auf
Minix3.

Das Projekt OpenXPhone zu verwirklichen, erscheint jetzt als dringender
als je zuvor: Google's G1 - siehe angegebenen Link - ist von der
Hardware her beinahe identisch mit dem, was ich machen will. Von der
Software und Funktionalität her ist das G1 jedoch diametral
entgegengesetzt zu dem, was ich erreichen möchte. Es beruht
selbstverständlich auf Closed Source Software, und es praktiziert das so
genannte "Cloud Computing", bei welchem der Benutzer die Kontrolle über
seine Daten verliert.

My Project OpenXPhone is the project of a Open Source smartphone that is
cellphone and *mobile X Terminal* in one, thus enabling people who
cannot afford a computer, for example in the 3rd world, to learn to log
in to and operate a computer. It will completely based on Free Software
such as Minix3.

To realize the OpenXPhone Project seems now more urgent than ever
before. Google's G1 - see the link - is with respect to the hardware
almost identical to that what I want to do. With  respect to the
functionality and the software, it is however diametrically opposed to
that what I want to achieve. Of course it is based on Closed Source
software, and it does the so called "Cloud Computing", where everthing
is in the web, for example at Google, and the user is loosing control
over his own data.
