Hi all,
FYI:
Xnet, Institute for Democratic Digitalisation, is delighted to invite
you to attend the presentation of our report "*Proposal for a Sovereign
and Democratic Digitalisation of Europe”. *This in-person event will
take place on *Wednesday 31st May 2023, 13:00-15:00 *at the *European
Parliament in Brussels, *in room Spinelli 5E1.
The purpose of this presentation is *to create the framework for a
coalition* to promote concrete actions and policies to redefine the
foundations of EU digital transformation.
This is why your presence would be crucial for the debate.
The event will be hosted by *Stelios Kouloglou, MEP, *and will feature
opening remarks by himself and *Patrick Breyer, MEP, *followed by a
presentation of the "*Proposal for a Sovereign and Democratic
Digitalisation of Europe”* report by its lead author, *Simona Levi,
Director of Xnet. *Subsequently*, *a presentation of the report *"The
lobby network: Big Tech's web of influence in the EU” *will be held by
*Bram Vranken, Researcher at Corporate Europe Observatory, *with
concluding remarks by *Pina Picierno, Vice-president of the European
Parliament*. After that, the *Transnational Institute* and the *European
Parents' Association* will open the _floor for the debate._
Xnet worked closely with the President of the European Parliament David
Sassoli on an EU digital transformation with digital sovereignty and
digital rights at its core. President Sassoli commissioned our report
"Proposal for a Sovereign and Democratic Digitalisation of Europe",
published by the Publication Office of the European Union
<https://op.europa.eu/en/publication-detail/-/publication/dae77969-7812-11ec-9136-01aa75ed71a1>.
The report defines *new and concrete approaches*. The Proposal draws on
Xnet's prototype for a Democratic Digitalisation of Education, developed
with the City of Barcelona in 12 schools. From this starting point, it
identifies *urgent lines of action* toward enabling a more democratic EU
digital transformation for all citizens.
A light brunch will be provided for those attending. Please see
the agenda attached for further details on the event, and the dossier
for more details regarding the published report.
Please RSVP to eu at xnet-x.net <mailto:eu at xnet-x.net> in order to confirm
your attendance.
If you have any further questions or queries please do not hesitate to
get in touch, and we look forward to welcoming you on the 31st May.
Best
Alex
