Although I do not want to start a flamewar, and despite that fact that
I feel the same about the Linux vs GNU/Linux disctinction, I find your
comment a bit harsh, maybe you could say:

   De plus, bien souvent l'on préfère dire `GNU/Linux' plutôt que juste
   `Linux' lorsqu'on se réfère au système d'exploitation (environnement,
   distribution) plutôt qu'au seul noyau (kernel).

It's less intrusive because it's motivated.
