Lancement de la Clause logiciel libre 


Qu'est-ce que c'est? 


La Clause logiciel libre est une initiative de la Fondation pour le
logiciel libre* visant à promouvoir l'utilisation et le développement de
logiciels strictement libres à l'intérieur des organisations. 
Conséquemment, toute organisation se trouvant en accord avec les
principes de la Clause logiciel libre est invitée à l'adopter en
l'insérant dans sa constitution ou dans son contrat social. 


* = Pour l'instant, le brouillon de la Clause logiciel libre est une
initiative de Mathieu Gauthier-Pilote (moi, salut!) mais avec votre
aide, nous pourrons lui donner fière allure et elle méritera alors
d'être endossée par la FSF et d'être adoptée par les entreprises membres
du GNU Business Network. 


Pourquoi? 


- Véhiculer les principes et la philosophie du logiciel libre à
l'intérieur des organisations, les organisations d'affaires étant plus
particulièrement visées, mais pas exclusivement.  La Clause est très
"générique". 
- Aider les entreprises du libre à s'aider entre elles. 
- Encourager l'utilisation de systèmes 100% libre. 


Comment ça marche? 


- D'une certaine façon, en adaptant le système du commerce équitable [1]
au logiciel libre: 

1. Les organisations adopte la Clause en l'insérant à l'intérieur de
leur constitution ou de leur contrat social. 
2. Les utilisateurs/clients privilégient les services et les produits de
ces organisations. 

- Le texte de la Clause fait la promotion de la viabilité de solutions
informatiques basées exclusivement sur des logiciels libres. 


Où peut-on lire le brouillon? 

La Clause se trouve présentement dans le répertoire CVS brouillon de la
FSF Europe sur savannah.gnu.org :

- fsfe/fr/drafts/clause_logiciel_libre.txt - pour la version française 

- fsfe/drafts/free_software_clause.txt - pour la traduction anglaise 


Bon, qu'est-ce qu'on fait maintenant? 


- Le contenu actuel du brouillon doit être débattu et amendé.  Il y a
forcément des choses auxquelles je n'ai pas songées moi-même!
Servons-nous de cette liste de discussion.

- Nous devons le traduire en plusieurs langues (vive l'Europe! :-) 

- Un logo?

Lorsque nous avons une version 1.0, nous la rendons publique et nous
nous croisons les doigts. ;-) 

Non, sérieusement, il faut d'abord débattre du contenu que je met sur la
table.  On verra pour la suite.

Free Software Clause Launching 


What is it? 

The Free Software Clause is an initiative of the Free Software
Foundation * which aims to promote the use and development of free
software within all types of organizations.  Consequently, any
organization finding itself in agreement with the principles of the Free
Software Clause is invited to adopt it by inserting it inside its
constitution or social contract. 


* = For now, the Free Software Clause draft is an initiative of Mathieu
Gauthier-Pilote (that's me, hello), but with your help we can make it
good enough so it deserves to be endorsed by the FSF, and to be adopted
by members of the GNU Business Network. 


Why? 


- To promote the principles and the philosophy of free software within
organizations, business organizations being the main target, but not
exclusively.  The Clause is made very "generic".

- To help free software businesses help themselves. 

- To encourage the use of 100% free software computer systems. 


How does it work? 


- In a certain way, by adapting the fair trade [1] system to free
software:

1. Organizations adopt the Clause by inserting it inside their
constitution or social contract.
2. Users/clients favour the services and the products of these
organizations.

- The text of the Clause promotes the viability of "solutions" based
solely on free software.


Where can we read the draft?


The Clause can be found right now in the drafts CVS directory of the FSF
Europe on savannah.gnu.org :

- fsfe/fr/drafts/clause_logiciel_libre.txt - for the original French
version 

- fsfe/drafts/free_software_clause.txt - for my (inaccurate) English
translation (Please FIX ME!) 


Ok, so what do we do now? 


- The contents of the actual draft must be debated and amended.  There
are obviously things I didn't think of! Let's use this mailing list.

- We must translate the draft in many languages! (vive l'Europe! :-) 

- A logo?

When we have a version 1.0, we make it public and we cross our fingers.
;-) 

No, seriously, we must first debate the contents that I'm putting on the
table.  We'll see for what's next.
