Lyx finally Free Software?

It looks LyX could finally become a software which does not depend
on a proprietory library anymore. It is not widely known yet, but
there seems to be a LGPL version of xforms around:
	ftp://ncmir.ucsd.edu/pub/xforms/OpenSource/
Can someone confirm that Lyx runs with that and the licensing is okay?
