What about the standard GNU + the word 'Europe' without the stars and
the word 'GNU'? ... This may create  an immediately understandable link
to GNU while underlining the European identity. Also, as it has already
been pointed out, it won't, at least directly, give/suggest geographical
and political borders and limits. Isn't GNU itself, and all that's
related, Philosophy And Mythology ?  ;-)
