There's a very good movement in the UK, called "Adopt an MP" (can't remember
the link off-hand, but there is certainly a link on Alan Cox's homepage,
http://www.linux.org.uk/ ). Citizens 'adopt' their local member of
parliament, and make sure than they are aware of all the fact surrounding
encryption, software patents, etc. It's basically a multi-faceted lobby
group, and it seems to be making at least some impact. Maybe that's the
answer - address the individual politicians via their constituents, rather
than via lobby groups.
