I just had a look at our website for teams and I noticed that the regional teams are mixed with topical teams. I think that was separate in the past and IMHO, it was better that way because those are quite different scopes. I'm not suggesting different pages necessarily, but what about having two lists on the same wiki page?
Also, I noticed, this somewhat odd link with the title "Country teams don't all use the wiki" at the bottom of this list which then takes me to https://fsfe.org/contact/contact.en.html I find that a bit confusing. What about you?

I just looked at it and it is the way it "always" was. That's not to say that it is the way it should be, though ;-)
We currently have:
# LocalGroups - This contains local groups (duh), i.e. what we used to call a "Fellowship group" - Country teams
# Teams - A mix of topical and country teams

The link used to go to https://fsfe.org/contact/local.en.html, which seems to have been abandoned in favour of the wiki. I have "fixed" this by removing the sentence.

IMO "country teams" should be displayed on the Teams page, maybe distinctly from the topical teams. Maybe the local groups could be moved below the "Teams" page as well, but I'd like to hear other opinions on that... Finally, we could possibly hide the inactive local groups in a sub-page, like we do with inactive teams.

I agree, but I have no strong feelings about having them on the local groups page either, as long as they're listed separately. I mean it's possible that someone wants to start a local group and their best point of contact is the country team. So either way makes sense to me.
I think the reason for the mix may be that Jonas at some point asked us to combine country teams and local groups. I remember arguing that they were serving different functions. But it doesn't matter now I guess if it's confusing.

I think that might be a nice solution. The lists are not very long anyway and that way, we get what I mentioned above if someone needs a local point of contact and perhaps there is no nearby local group or so.

I'm not really in the mood to tinker too much with the page structure right now, so I left it as is for now. The question remains what to do with the awkward split of country teams into LocalGroups and Teams.

I just tried again to look at it from the perspective of a potential user looking for information on our wiki and I think perhaps all of the topical teams/country teams/local groups should be on the same page, but in different sections. The reason is that they either want to know about our structure and then it's nice to have an overview or they want to get in touch with the most appropriate group and then again, it helps to have a nice overview. What do you think?

The more I think about it, the less sure I am about the taxonomy. Additionally, from a user point of view (both old and new users), would it be confusing if we remove the LocalGroups link on the top of the page and only leave Teams? If we remove the link, should we also move those pages into the Teams namespace? If the LocalGroups page remains, how do we avoid confusion because of its similarity to the Teams page?

I don't think it would unless someone already knew the term local group and at the same time didn't know where to find them. Otherwise, I would expect them to click on Teams. The way I see it, logically, local groups are a team, but a special kind of team. Most other teams are virtual, some focus on topics (topical teams), some focus on regions (country teams), and some focus on a physical presence (local groups). We could theoretically even name them local teams, but I think that would increase confusion. Either way, local groups are in a sense a special kind of team, so they could be listed there. We would still have three distinct categories, though.
