If the launch is to be early October, when do you suspect that all design elements would need to be completed by?

I am :) Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

You're right, I have loose deadlines in mind at the moment, but these need to
be firmed up soon as autumn is approaching, and it'll make it easier for
others to contribute.

The campaign should launch to coincide with students returning to university.
There are good reasons for launching before and after. Before gives us
exposure before the bustle of a new term (and attention spans are limited),
after gives us exposure when students are together and networking and more
likely to spread the campaign by word of mouth. "Launch" in this context
refers to starting the daily microblog messages that we have prepared and
translated [1].

There are also the other components to consider though:

- - Sticker packs to universities
- - Workshops with students
- - Postcards
- - DVD cases
- - Plastic bags (still under discussion)

Last I checked we had about 1 month worth of restriction messages for social
media. We can also repeat the restriction messages, or, say 50% of them, after
they've run their first round, as we'll have very few followers at the start
of the campaign.

That means we could cover October and half of November. It would make sense to
distribute the postcards and sticker packs at the start of the social media
campaign too in order to drive create as much buzz and simultaneous public
stimulus as possible.

Depending on how long it takes to get the postcard design(s) agreed, it should
be possible to have them ready for distribution by the start of October. We
already have some other materials ready, but we'll need to reprint some of the
medium sized stickers as stock is out.

Another thing standing in the way of launch is the website - I think it needs
extending before campaign launch. I don't think it's engaging enough as it is.
Perhaps an embedded twitter feed or photo digest (rely on Twitter for this?
Embed media goblin? Other solution?) would be sufficient.

What do you (list members) think about October 1st as a proposal? I'm not sure
at the moment how the DVD cases (to be crowd-funded), restriction videos, and
plastic bags fit into this timeframe.

In the mean time it would be good to get some more people on this list for
ideas and sanity checks :) Please share suggestions if you have them.

Best,

Sam.
