-------- Original Message -------- Subject: PDFreaders - Success story continues during FSCONS sprint Date: Thu, 17 Nov 2011 14:16:46 +0100 From: Matthias Kirschner mk@fsfe.org To: team-reports@fsfeurope.org, germany@fsfeurope.org CC: pdfreaders@lists.fsfe.org
At FSCONS we held the second PDFreaders sprint after the one in the UK. Sam organised the sprint. We had 10 participants at the workshop, checked several websites from our buglist, translated form letter http://fsfe.org/campaigns/pdfreaders/letter.en.html, and petition http://fsfe.org/campaigns/pdfreaders/petition.en.html into Swedish.
The talk by Matthias was well received at FSCONS. Many people like this campaign, because it is very easy to participate. Volunteers report us proudly when they achieved another bug fix.
Until now 511 out of 2081 (24%) reported public websites have fixed this bug https://fsfe.org/campaigns/pdfreaders/buglist.en.html. 58 organisations, 56 businesses, and 1938 individuals have signed the petition https://fsfe.org/campaigns/pdfreaders/petition.en.html.
Next steps: - Wait until our questions are asked in the European Parliament and the Belgium Parliament. - Get the questions asked in other Parliaments as well - Continue to follow-up (Michael Voigt and Guido Arnold started this for Germany now, and already convinced another ministry) - Submit PDFreaders talk to other conferences - Make it clear, that you can also contact companies about it, not just public administrations.
