Hi all,
The European Social Forum is a meeting place for social movements in
Europe. On September 17-21, ESF will be held in Malmö, and more than
20.000 people are expected to participate[1].
I think FSFE should be present with an information stall[2] at this
years forum. Many of the participating organizations are likely to be
morally aligned with FSFE, but may not have the necessary insight into
technological matters to be aware of our cause. The cheapest stall
(informational only) costs 80 euro.

all the best,

FYI.
A request for local support/information by our friend from India.
If you can help, that would be appreciated.

Georg

Dear Jonas (and Mathias and Henrik and Christof),
Richard Stallman sent along Jonas' name to me as someone who might be
willing and able to join us at the last minute in what we hope will be a
productive workshop on cyberethics. I thought that I'd extend my request to
other members of the Swedish chapter of the Free Software Foundation Europe.
On July 29th I will be co-directing a workshop at the University of Helsinki
under the umbrella organizing conference International Society for the Study
of European Ideas. The workshop is entitled "Control + C, Control + V: the
ethics of copying" and is thematically focused on ethical and political
implications of copying/sharing and privacy issues in technology and the
internet phenomena. We currently have 3 senior scholars
(from the USA) and two junior scholars (both from Helsinki) who are
presenting research on cyberethics issues such as copyright, privacy,
plagiarism, open source phenomena, and intellectual property.
My question is: at this late date, would one of you be interested in joining
us in Helsinki to present ideas about FSF? If you are interested (and able)
and have a talk that you would like to give, send us an abstract for review.
If accepted, we would cover your cost of registration for the conference.
I've attached the CFP and here is the website for the conference:

Many thanks and I hope to meet one of you in the near future. The members of
CSTEP are looking to especially cultivate collaborative projects with
colleagues from Europe and Latin America.
