I rappresentanti della sezione italiana della Free Software Foundation Europe saranno presenti al Linux World Expo[1], in programma a Milano dal 22 al 24 settembre prossimo. All'interno dello spazio .Org Pavillion, dedicato alla comunità e ai gruppi che operano all'interno di essa, sarà presente uno stand dove incontrare gli attivisti e prendere visione di materiale e attività in corso. Inoltre Stefano Maffulli, presidente della sezione italiana, presenterà i lavori e i progetti di FSFE il 22 settembre dalle 15 alle 16 sempre all'interno dell'area destinata alle associazioni. Presso lo stand, i responsabili di FSF Europe saranno a disposizione della stampa.
Che cos'è la Free Software Foundation Europe:
La Free Software Foundation Europe (FSF Europe) è una organizzazione non governativa senza fini di lucro che si dedica a tutti gli aspetti del Software Libero in Europa. L'accesso al software determina chi può far parte di una società digitale. Quindi la libertà di usare, copiare, modificare e redistribuire software, come descritto nella definizione di Software Libero, permette parità di partecipazione nell'era dell'informazione. Portare all'attenzione del pubblico questi temi, dare solide basi politiche e lagali al Software Libero e assicurare libertà alle persone supportando lo sviluppo di Software Libero, sono temi centrali per la FSF Europe, che è stata fondata nel 2001 come organizzazione sorella della Free Software Foundation statunitense.
Chi è Stefano Maffulli
Dopo la laurea in architettura, ha prestato opera di ricerca all'Università di Firenze per il progetto europeo Histocity (sviluppo sostenibile delle città storiche), dove ha fondato anche il laboratorio GIS_Lab. Ha poi lavorato per la Commissione Europea JRC-Ispra come ricercatore nell'unità Sistemi di supporto alla Decisione e al progetto europeo CommonGIS. Dal 2001 è a tempo pieno un professionista del software libero, prima come project manager per Madeinlinux poi come consulente. Quale Presidente della sezione italiana di FSF Europe, coordina le attività nazionali tenendo i contatti con aziende, politici e la comunità degli sviluppatori.
