== Software Libero, Open Source, FOSS, FLOSS ==
Vi sono due termini ricorrenti riguardanti il software che può liberamente essere usato, studiato, condiviso e migliorato: Software Libero e Software Open Source. Ci sono anche differenti combinazioni e traduzioni di questi termini, come FOSS, Software Libre, FLOSS eccetera. Leggere articoli sul Software Libero o ascoltare persone impegnate nel settore solleva spesso la questione: perché preferiscano un certo termine piuttosto che un altro, e quale sia la differenza tra queste definizioni.
Il volontario di lunga data Björn Schiessle ha scritto un buon articolo[1]su questo argomento, su come gestire diverse terminologie.

== Lo Stato ignora gli standard web, azienda multata per EUR 5600 ==
In Slovacchia, lo Stato ha stabilito che determinati obblighi fiscali debbano essere adempiuti tramite procedura informatica. Comunque, la preposta procedura online esclude la partecipazione di alcuni cittadini, poiché non è interoperabile e funziona solo su software non libero di un singolo produttore. In assenza di nessuna opzione non elettronica, ciò comporta che lo stato ordina l'uso di un certo prodotto di un certo produttore. Le persone che non possiedono una copia di questo software, devono acquistarla. Un importatore slovacco di materie tessili ha protestato sostenendo che lo stato non dovrebbe obbligarli ad usare un determinato software per gli obblighi fiscali, permettendo loro di adempiere ai loro obblighi tramite moduli cartacei. Adesso, l'azienda in questione deve pagare 5600 euro di multe.
L'attuale tirocinante della FSFE Martin Husovec ha constatato l'ingiustizia di questi fatti, e ha avviato un proprio personale progetto per migliorare la situazione: sta lavorando sul caso, leggendo documenti giuridici. Ha rilasciato un comunicato stampa[2]e un sommario esecutivo del caso EURA[3]. È motivato per assicurare che nessuno sia obbligato ad utilizzare determinati servizi proprietari in Slovacchia, semplicemente per adempiere alla legge, e vi terrà aggiornato[4].

== Il Regno Unito rimarrà nella trappola FRAND? ==
Il Software Libero potrebbe essere escluso dal settore pubblico britannico se la nuova politica approverà i termini"FRAND"[5]per gli standard britannici. Come recentemente rivelato da Freedom of Information Requests[6]: durante gli scorsi mesi, sforzi di lobbying intensivi hanno cercato di esercitare pressione sul governo per opporre una definizione rigorosa di Standard Aperto.

La FSFE sta cercando di opporsi a questo sviluppo. Durante il mese di Maggio la FSFE ha chiesto alle aziende britanniche del Nord-Est di comunicare al governo che gli Standard Aperti sono importanti[7]. Continueremo a lavorare a questo caso.

== Elezioni democratiche con software non libero? ==
In Francia, la FSFE ha sollevato le proprie opposizioni (Francese)[8]sul sistema di voto online implementato per gli elettori francesi registrati all'estero. La FSFE ha fortemente criticato la completa mancanza di precauzioni, l'opacità del sistema di voto e l'obbligo di usare software proprietario per votare.

== Qualcosa di completamente diverso ==
- "La mia cucina non può essere una copia della tua". Richard Stallman ha scritto un nuovo articolo"I servizi di rete non sono liberi o non liberi; sollevano altri problemi"[9]. - L' intervista della Fellowship di questo mese[10]è con Giacomo Poderi, membro dell'assemblea generale della FSFE, ha lavorato come traduttore e redattore per la FSFE, ed ha conseguito una laurea specialistica in Psicologia. IfrOSS ha scritto una proposta (Tedesco)[12]riguardante i problemi di insolvenza con le licenze di Software Libero, che anche la FSFE sostiene. - Standard Aperti: "Come arrivare a un punto dove dovremo pagare per il 'privilegio' di avere un produttore che prende i nostri dati e li blocca, obbligandoci a pagare ogni volta per avervi accesso? chiede Jake Edge di LWN nel suo articolo"Chi possiede i nostri dati?"[13]Ti "ribellerai" per la prossima edizione del Document Freedom Day[14]? - Carlo Piana[15]della FSFE e John Sullivan[16]della FSF, hanno pubblicato articoli sul caso Oracle vs. Google. - Una selezione dall' aggregatore di blog della Fellowship[17]:Il rappresentante della Fellowship Nikos Roussos ha descritto[18]soluzioni basate su Software Libero che possano essere usate per servizi web self-hosted. - Georg Greve "non crede che Windows sia il futuro del Software Libero per i desktop". Sembra ovvio? Lo è? Ecco il suo articolo:"A bridge leading nowhere: Outlook-centric groupware"[19]. - Pulito, giocoso, ampio uso di Software Libero, out-of-the-boxiness. Il Fellow Karl Beecher spiega perché usare Phyton per l'insegnamento[20]. - Il vice presidente della FSFE sta lavorando su Searduino[21], un software pensato per programmare Arduino in C/C++. È anche un simulatore per API Arduino source level, quindi è possibile provare codice eseguibile senza la scheda Arduino, e molto altro. - Stai cercando una buona configurazione per il tuo windows manager? Alcuni Fellow hanno condiviso i loro file di configurazione per Awesome[22], e xmonad[23]. - Inoltre, Hannes Hauswedell ha scritto su come migliorare la privacy per le e-mail[24]rimuovendo le informazioni presenti nell'Header, mentre si usa GnuPG e Thunderbird. - Isabel Drost spiega come rovinare velocemente i progetti di software. Ad esempio, definendo i programmatori "risorse", non investendo in strumenti, o altri suggerimenti[25]. - Infine, se una delle tue presentazioni è ancora troppo lunga, ci sono anche consigli su come accorciarla[26].
