1. IPRED2 - la nouvelle attaque contre la liberté
La Commission européenne a récemment publié son essai pour une seconde directive sur le renforcement des "droits de la propriété intellectuelle". Le texte propose la criminalisation de la plupart des infractions aux brevets, droits d'auteur et marques déposées, et aussi la criminalisation de l'aide, de l'encouragement ou de l'incitation à de telles infractions. En exigeant que ces peines, grosses amendes et autres punitions lourdes soient effectives pour ces nouveaux crimes, la directive voudrait faire suffisamment peur afin d'empêcher les citoyens et les entreprises de participer à la production et à la diffusion de logiciels, et dans une certaine mesure, à l'utilisation du logiciel et à la publication d'information. Cela tendrait aussi à transformer les lois sur les brevets, marques déposées et droits d'auteur en armes accessibles pour que les entreprises bien placées puissent s'en servir contre les concurrents.
Ciaran O'Rioran a monté une page sur laquelle il explique comment cette directive peut être interprétée pour nuire au logiciel libre et ce qui peut être fait contre ça.

2. Stichting NLnet a donné 150000 EUR pour supporter les activités de la GPLv3
Stichting NLnet, une fondation à but non-lucratif basée en Hollande, a annoncé qu'il donnait 150,000 EUR afin de supporter les activités de la GPL3 de la Free Software Foundation et la Free Software Foundation Europe. C'est une contribution importante, et NLnet espère que cela encouragera les autres organes de subventions à financer ce projet unique.
3. Alessandro Rubini en Croatie
A Portoroz en Slovénie, Alessandro Rubini a participé à une conférence d'affaires sur le logiciel libre. Il a parlé de l'utilisation du logiciel libre dans les affaires et a participé à une table ronde sur la manière dont le gouvernement pourrait contribuer au développement des entreprises de logiciel libre. A part ces apparitions officielles, il a consacré la majorité de son temps à établir des contacts avec les autres partisans du logiciel libre, originaires de Slovénie comme de Croatie.
4. Stefano Maffulli à la conférence d'OpenOffice.org en Slovénie
Lors de la conférence d'OpenOffice.org à Koper - Capodistria, Stefano Maffulli a parlé lors de la table ronde qui a clôturé la conférence OOoConf2005. La discussion allait de la décision du Massachusetts d'utiliser le format d'OpenDocument aux prochains progrès d'OpenOffice.org. La conférence a été très bien organisée et l'hospitalité du LUG de Trieste et de LUGOS (Slovénie) a été merveilleuse.
