1. Célébration de la 20ème newsletter
Ceci est la 20ème édition de la newsletter mensuelle de la Free Software Foundation Europe. Rédigée par l'équipe de la FSFE pour la communauté, la newsletter est devenue un moyen incontournable d'informer les personnes intéressées par les activités de la FSFE. Grâce à l'excellent travail de l'équipe de traduction la newsletter est disponible en 4 langues au minimum chaque mois, le plus souvent même en 5 ou 6.
2. Georg Greve au LACFREE à Recife, Brésil
Alors que le Brésil a généralement une réputation de meneur parmi les nations en faveur du logiciel libre, le nord-est du Brésil a développé très peu d'activités dans ce domaine. C'est pour cette raison que l'UNESCO a soutenu la Conférence Latino-Américaine et Caribéenne sur le Développement et l'Utilisation du Logiciel Libre (Latin American and Caribbean Conference on Free Software Development and Usage - LACFREE) à Recife, la capitale de Pernambuco, une ville où les statistiques de l'inéquité sociale sont comparables à celles de la Namibie. Le Président de la FSFE Georg Greve a participé à pas moins de 4 ateliers: un sur la Free Software Foundation et notre réseau international, un sur le Logiciel Libre dans l'Education et la Culture, un sur les issues légales du Logiciel Libre et un sur le Logiciel Libre et le eGouvernement, totalisant pas moins de 4 allocutions et 12 heures d'activité en trois jours seulement. De plus il a également donné une interview à un journal national et à une radio communautaire.

3. Henrik Sandklef à la Chalmers University à Gothenburg
Henrik Sandklef a tenu une conférence à la Chalmers University of Technology à Gothenburg en Suède. Le sujet comprenait le concept du Logiciel Libre, la Free Software Foundation, le projet GNU et les menaces actuelles contre la liberté logicielle comme l'IPRED* ou la DRM**.

4. Karsten Gerloff au 22ème CCC (Chaos Communication Congress) à Berlin
Au 22ème Chaos Communication Congress du Chaos Computer Club à Berlin en Allemagne, Karsten Gerloff a présenté un exposé sur le Logiciel Libre, l'accès à la connaissance et l'Organisation mondiale de la Propriété Intellectuelle (OMPI / WIPO). Le point central de cet exposé était l'accès à la connaissance pour la culture et le développement.
5. Expression de craintes à propos de la sécurité contre pression personnelle
Thomas Maus, un consultant allemand en sécurité IT, a présenté un exposé au Chaos Communication Congress dans lequel il a soulevé des questions concernant les dossiers médicaux électroniques tels que prévus en Allemagne et probablement dans d'autres pays également. L'année dernière il avait tenu une conférence sur l'examination d'un system test révélant de très grosses failles de sécurité. Suite à cela il y a eu de nombreuses tentatives pour supprimer ses questions. L'exposé de 2005 comprenait quelques détails sur la manière dont cela était réalisé. Outre le fait que le système de santé planifié est un scandal en lui-même, cela constitue également un exemple flagrant que la législation interdisant l'analyse ou l'examen de systèmes de restriction numérique peut être et sera utilisée pour rendre pratiquement impossible pour le public d'inspecter et de critiquer de gros et vitaux systèmes informatiques. Des experts isolés comme M. Maus peuvent être trop aisément soumis à des pressions. C'est pour cette raison que la FSFE l'a soutenu et a rendu possible la transmission de cette information au public.

6. Rassemblement d'énergie autour du Logiciel Libre en Irlande du Nord
Il y a eu une récente vague d'engouement pour le Logiciel Libre en Irlande du Nord, aussi bien dans les associations professionnelles que parmi les utilisateurs de GNU/Linux. Durant le mois de décembre, Ciaran O'Riordan a été en contact avec de nombreux particuliers et organisations et a participé à un atelier sur le Logiciel Libre à Newry. L'absence de point central de communication a été relevé comme un problème majeur et c'est pourquoi, pour aider à la coordination d'activités autour du Logiciel Libre, la FSFE a le plaisir d'annoncer le lancement de la mailing-list fsfe-ni:
