Vorstellung von Wilhelm Tux, neue assoziierte Organisation der FSFE
Die Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) und Wilhelm Tux geben mit Freude bekannt, dass Wilhelm Tux, die Kampagne für Freie Software in der Schweiz, offiziell assoziierte Organisation der FSFE geworden ist.
Die Schweizer Unterstützer Freier Software hatten schon seit einiger Zeit geplant, ein Teil des Netzwerks und Kompetenzzentrums für Freie Software zu werden: "Das sind wirklich gute Neuigkeiten für alle Mitglieder und Freunde von Wilhelm Tux, denn dies ist eine weitere Etappe auf unserem Weg, Freie Software in der Schweiz zu fördern. Wir möchten vermehrt das Interesse an Freier Software für eine freie Gesellschaft wecken, besonders in der Schweiz, die weltweit als Land der Freiheit gilt," erklärt Myriam Schweingruber, Präsidentin von Wilhelm Tux, und ihr Kollege Alex Schröder ergänzt: "Trotz geographischer und sprachlicher Hindernisse arbeiten unsere aktiven Mitglieder und Freunde bereits daran, in der deutschen, französischen und italienischen, nicht zu vergessen der rätoromanischen Schweiz das Interesse an Freier Software und den damit zusammenhängenden philosophischen, sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Fragen zu wecken."
"Die Zusammenarbeit mit der FSFE ist von grosser Bedeutung, da deren Arbeit immer ein Beispiel für Wilhelm Tux war und", so schliesst Myriam Schweingruber: "wir hoffen natürlich, mit unserer Arbeit einen Teil zum Aufbau einer freien Gesellschaft beizutragen."
"Wir sind sehr glücklich, dass unsere Zusammenarbeit mit Wilhelm Tux nun auf einer neuen Ebene stattfindet," kommmentiert Georg Greve, Präsident der FSFE. "Es bestanden vorher schon eine gute Zusammenarbeit und gute Kontakte, so dass diese Entscheidung uns sehr leicht fiel. Wir freuen uns darauf, mit unseren Schweizer Freunden für mehr Freiheit zu arbeiten."

Die Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) ist eine gemeinnützige regierungsunabhängige Organisation, die sich allen Aspekten der Freien Software in Europa widmet. Zugang zu Software entscheidet, wer wie an der digitalen Gesellschaft teilnehmen kann.
