Vi abbiamo scritto perché ci è stato segnalato che la sua istituzione sta facendo pubblicità ad un programma proprietario[1], nello specifico, state consigliando agli utenti del vostro sito di scaricare Adobe Acrobat Reader di Adobe System.
Anche se questo programma è gratuito, si tratta comunque di pubblicità per una specifica azienda che viene favorita a scapito di chiunque altro nel mercato, distorcendo la concorrenza nel mercato del software.
Una Pubblica Amministrazione dovrebbe avere un atteggiamento neutrale nei confronti del mercato, per questo vi suggeriamo di correggere la pagina segnalata.
Una soluzione a questo problema consiste nel rimuovere la pubblicità dal suo sito. Su http://fsfe.org/campaigns/pdfreaders/petition.html può trovare una lista di organizzazioni, aziende, e singole persone che sostengono questa richiesta attraverso la firma della "Petizione per la rimozione della pubblicità a software proprietario sui siti delle istituzioni pubbliche". Se invece vuole fornire una guida ai visitatori, consigliamo di elencare diversi lettori PDF, dicendo qualcosa come "per aprire questo file PDF, hai bisogno di un lettore PDF. Puoi scaricare uno dei seguenti programmi (la lista non è esaustiva)". Su http://www.pdfreaders.org può trovare alcuni esempi di lettori PDF che potrebbe consigliare sul suo sito. Entrambe le alternative sono molto più giuste del raccomandare soltanto il lettore di una azienda.
