Hello,
My name is Matti Lammi. I am a 26-year-old IT-engineer and a free software supporter. I was
wondering if you have open vacancies in your internship programme for the comming Autumn and
Spring. I would love to help you with your work.
I have been a free software supporter for a few years now. My most important contributions
are related to a free software compatible hardware database project called h-node. I have filled
bug reports, suggested new features to be implemented, helped new users and, most importantly,
added and updated a lot of devices to the database.
I graduated recently as a Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology. While I was writing
my final thesis about h-node, I was able to insert almost 250 new devices to the database of which
over 100 were laptops. I was able to do this because I did my compulsory practical training period
in an IT hardware store as a member of their maintenance team. I figured it would be the best chance
to get my hands on as many different devices as possible and it sure was. If you are interested in my
final thesis, you can find it in the attachments. It was written as an introduction to h-node for
potential new users.
I'm interested in participating in your open standards, legal and public awareness related activities
but I can help you with other tasks if needed. What are the most important or urgent tasks where you
could use some help? I like to talk about free software with people and I would love to participate in
an installation fest or some kind of an introductory workshop to free software for new users.
So, do you have any vacancies in your internship programme? Please, feel free to send me an e-mail or
call me. I hope I'll be hearing from you soon.
Regards,
Matti Lammi
