The next Bitcoin Manchester is confirmed. It will be Thursday 22nd May, 7-9pm at the Manchester Digital Laboratory (MadLab). This is a departure from our regular 1st Monday booking at MadLab due to the bank holiday earlier in the month.
This month, organisers Max and Ash (mainly Max) will will touch on a topic first presented at Bitcoin Manchester around 1 year ago: Smart Property.
Smart Property is a concept built on the ideas in Bitcoin. It uses tokens to represent contractual items, beyond being just units of currency.
The release of such software has happened and we are seeing competiting platforms which allow multiple use cases. We are going to examine one main technology and give a brief overview of its competitiors. This is the first part of series of talks examining “Bitcoin 2.0” technolology as we see new features integrated directly into and ontop of the blockchain to support our day to day lives.
As always we'll have sponsored pizza provided by one of the Bitcoin-accepting Takeaway.com vendors. Finally we'll head to the pub. We're at MadLab as usual.

This project will create an Open Education Resource where trainers will be able to pick from a range of openly licence resources and activities to create a curriculum. I'll build on the resources of FLOSS Manuals and similar projects but put a more friendly front end on it. I'm thinking this work could be useful to many Free Software trainers!

Duct Tape University project for Do IT artists
Do IT, is a training course run by Community Arts North West for artists to help them use low cost technology to spread the word about their work and learn digital production skills.
We think we have come up with a great formula to help artists, small business and people active in communities to pick up new skills in getting their message across with social media and media production. And here's a project to help spread the word -- Duct Tape University.

The ideas is to put all of the resources, activities and tools in one place. All of these resources will have an open licence so that they can be used and adapted by other trainers.
Why Vote for the Project?
The project will create a simple to use, attractive website which will showcase the high quality training documents, lesson plans and learning activities. CAN training participants will be able to download these materials for free. It will be a great resource for CAN artists to use when planning their own workshops in the area of digital art and using the web for communication. We will use all of our skills and experience to make the website as easy to use as possible to find the resources you need.
