Actually, while I was *STILL NOT SLEEPING* last night, I was thinking about programming languages - I don' really know anything about them! I would LOVE to know about them though, especially about how they get made, by who and for what etc.
Any ideas for who could do a talk on this subject?
good idea

Not necessarily for the next session - but I'd be interested, at some point, in a discussion about the merits and foibles of various programming languages used within the world of free & open source software. Languages seem to rise and fall in popularity - but is that just down to trends in the languages being taught? eg. I well remember from my own student days that there was a sudden push to teach Pascal instead of Fortran to engineers - for writing number-crunching programs - a policy that was rapidly reversed when industry complained about graduates being unable to maintain the huge installed base of legacy Fortran code. What are the best free compilers and interpreters at the moment? What are currently the best languages for cross-platform programming? That sort of thing.

great! See you there all! Anyone have any things for the agenda specifically? We seem to have chatted a bit this month about the mailpod, what should we do next?

else? Can you all make it on the 1st?
Since nobody objected, I have moved the meeting that was due to be tomorrow, to the 1st of March.
Madlab calendar has been updated accordingly.
Thanks,
Sam.
