Hi all The next Bitcoin Manchester is confirmed. It will be Monday 4th August (TOMORROW!!!), 7-9pm at the Manchester Digital Laboratory (MadLab). Sorry for the last minute announcement for this, Jonny could only confirm he’d be available late last night. This month Jonathan "Jonny" James Harrison of Bitcoin ATM company SatoshiPoint will be speaking at the group. SatoshiPoint currently manage Bitcoin ATMs in London and Bristol and are now looking for a place for their next machine. Jonny is a long-time money reformist and gold bug and believes strongly in Bitcoin. Hi all The next Bitcoin Manchester is confirmed. It will be Monday 30th June, 7-9pm at the Manchester Digital Laboratory (MadLab). This is another departure from our regular 1st Monday booking at MadLab due to the knock-on effect of the bank holiday in May. (There won’t be a July meetup, but we’ll be back to the first Monday slot from August onwards.) # TOPIC This month Andrew Wood ( https://twitter.com/zulufrog22 ) and Abdul Mannan ( https://twitter.com/Akmannan ) are running two sessions. First up is a showing of their Bitcoin Documentary. This is talks about the current landscape of Bitcoin, covering areas such as legal issues, tax/money laundering accusations, Silk Road 2.0, what public think of the technology (or don’t think about it), and recent innovations from london like the first look at the XBTerminal. Second, they will talk briefly about the explosion in the altcoin markets, mentioning their rise in prominence from Myriadcoin to PiggyCoin (for kids to learn how to use cryptocurrencies). They will begin a discussion on the possibilities they hold and could any of them dislodge Bitcoin or Litecoin from the top? Hi all The next Bitcoin Manchester is confirmed. It will be Thursday 22nd May, 7-9pm at the Manchester Digital Laboratory (MadLab). This is a departure from our regular 1st Monday booking at MadLab due to the bank holiday earlier in the month. This month, organisers Max and Ash (mainly Max) will will touch on a topic first presented at Bitcoin Manchester around 1 year ago: Smart Property. Smart Property is a concept built on the ideas in Bitcoin. It uses tokens to represent contractual items, beyond being just units of currency. The release of such software has happened and we are seeing competiting platforms which allow multiple use cases. We are going to examine one main technology and give a brief overview of its competitiors. This is the first part of series of talks examining “Bitcoin 2.0” technolology as we see new features integrated directly into and ontop of the blockchain to support our day to day lives.
