Ciao a tutti,
con Alexjan, Giacomo e gli altri ci è venuta l'idea di fare qualche attività per dare la possibilità a dei fellows di far vedere dove si trovano.
Per questioni di privacy la FSFE non può pubblicare la posizione dei fellows, ma ogni fellow ovviamente può pubblicare la propria.
Cosa ne dite dell'idea di creare una mappa, tipo con OpenStreetMap, sulla quale ogni fellow può inerirsi, al fine di annunciare il proprio interesse per creare dei gruppi a livello locale?
Se l'idea piace potremmo pensare di creare questo strumento come contributo dai fellow dell'Italia per la FSFE.

Aggiungerei alla mappa anche i gruppi a livello locale che già esistono

Ho dato un'occhiata in giro (non sono proprio pratico della struttura con cui funziona OSM) e ho visto che ci sono già parecchi progetti che utilizzano OSM per cosa simili a ciò che vorremmo noi [0,1]
Ora, per quel che riesco a capire io, inserire la mappa all'interno dell'infrastruttura della Fellowship non dovrebbe essere complicato. OSM fornisce già un paio di modi/informazioni riguardanti l'esportazione & embedding della mappa [2]
Quello di cui non sono riuscito a farmi un'idea è il come vengono creati i 'layer' da appoggiare sulla mappa. Da quello che è emerso nella discussione, vorremmo almeno un layer per visualizzare i Fellow sulla mappa e probabilmente anche un layer per visualizzare gruppi locali.
Qualcuno ci ha già lavorato o conosce meglio di me il funzionamento di OSM?

Ho fatto alcune prove. La guida che può essere utile al caso nostro è certamente questa: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Openlayers_POI_layer_example
Nella pagina seguente trovate la prova che ho fatto. Ho inserito un layer con due punti (me stesso e una x rossa). Cliccando sul punto si ottengono le informazioni aggiuntive. http://www.terra.unimore.it/tmp/osm/
Il layer personalizzato, che è quello che interessa a noi, viene generato attraverso questa tabella: http://www.terra.unimore.it/tmp/osm/textfile.txt Ovviamente ogni riga della tabella è un punto.
Il codice che genera la pagina è identico a quello del wiki di OSM, ho solamente modificato lat/lon per il centro della carta ed eventualmente è possibile modificare il livello di zoom. Ciao, Massimo

Io ho contattato Napo (che ha implementato la mappa Linuxday '10 [0]) per avere un po' di info su come ha gestito lui il progetto e quali problemi vanno valutati. Si è detto interessato all'idea...non appena mi fornisce più dettagli vi aggiorno e continuiamo a portare avanti il discorso sulla mappa :)
