Peggio ancora: non funziona nemmeno sull'ultima versione di Adobe Reader per Linux (9.5.1). Vedo che la versione di Windows è già alla 10.x.x

Molto bene. Se nessuno ha nient'altro da aggiungere direi che si può stampare e spedire. Possiamo aggiungere le fieme anche noi felloni ... volevo dire Fellows =P Si potrebbe anche mandare in lista "Frontiere Digitali" e chiedere alle associazioni che ne fanno parte se vogliono sottoscrivere (cercate chi sono, ora sto scrivendo dal telefono e non riesco a mettere i link :-) ).

La lettera è molto giusta e incisiva. Se può essere utile sono in contatto con i LUG di Scandiano, Reggio Emilia e Modena, posso chiedere, ma credo che sosterranno l'iniziativa con molto piacere.

sì, ha senso... ma anche il PDF è un formato standard... in lista WIkimedia Italia è partita una discussione intorno agli standard dei PDF (e.g. PDF/A) (cose di cui per altro io non so nulla) e anche da noi si diceva che forse è meglio spingere per l'HTML. Io credo che si possa menzionare l'HTML come altra possibilità, molto concreta e semplice da usare. Perché poi, ed è questa la cosa che fa più rabbia IMHO, credo che quelli non siano altro che normalissimi documenti (testo) e non hanno altra funzione che non presentare informazioni (che poi volendo funzioni più avanzate, come la possibilità di avere campi compilabili, anche in quel caso è più utile e sensato usare un form in HTML).

Il problema è che la mia adesione a quella lista non è mai stata approvata (evidentemente il moderatore è in ferie). Sono d'accordo, spesso i PDF sono inutili anche se rispettano gli standard. La campagna PDFReader si limita a contrastare l'abitudine da parte delle istituzioni pubbliche di consigliare lettori pdf proprietari, ma non ho niente in contrario se ci sono due righe che consigliano semplicamente l'adozione di HTML.

Voglio ribadire il fatto che penso che il punto del problema sia proprio la completa impossibilità per un utente GNU/Linux di leggere quel form. In ogni caso da più parti (sia in lista Wikimedia Italia, sia su Frontiere Digitali) mi veniva chiesto "ma cosa c'è dentro?". La mia risposta è stata un candido "Non lo so! Io vedo solo una scritta di errore".
Detto questo mi sono dovuto far aiutare da un amico (che ha Windows e l'ultima versione di Adobe Acrobat Reader) per aprire il documento (sic). Questo contiene un form da compilare per "segnalare la violazione dei dati personali" (una cosa importante, mi pare). Ecco uno screenshot del documento: http://bit.ly/PDF-garante

Salve a tutti e complimenti per l'iniziativa. ottenere l'adozione di un modulo compilabile indipendentemente dalla piattaforma e dal vincolo di usare un singolo prodotto - come acrobat reader - sarebbe già un buon risultato. Il garante ha certamente la possibilità di reperire i suoi tecnici e i mezzi per "cambiare registro" l'obbiettivo e fargli semplicemente capire che qualunque scelta tecnica decida di attuare sia accessibile a tutti e non comporti ne discriminazioni di utenti ne sponsorizzazione di soluzioni commerciali. Interessante è la scelta del comune Campagnano di Roma ( http://www.comunecampagnano.it/new-modulistica/new-modulistica.htm). Questo è un esempio di modulo pdf compilabile online dal sito del comune: http://galileo.egaspari.it/CampagnanodiRoma/GalileoBac.nsf/all/E01676FAB1EA7... Semplicemente si compila e si stampa (online oppure con qualsiasi lettore, Evince per esempio lo compila senza problemi). Dopodiché si può concludere proponendo di renderli disponibili anche in un altro formato (come l'html o odt) ma diventa secondario. In ogni caso trovo pienamente condivisibile il testo risultato http://etherpad.wikimedia.org/PDFreaders ritardare di qualche giorno potrebbe dare il tempo ad altri lug di aderire.

Pienamente d'accordo. Mandare la lettera e fare un comunicato stampa dopo ferragosto darebbe una certa visibilità all'iniziativa anche perché i giornali non hanno molte notizie da scrivere di questo periodo =)

Non so esattamente quali siano le procedure da seguire per poter aggiungere una nuova pagina sul sito (immagino debba essere discussa sulla ML degli editor), comunque credo che una prima discussione sulla lista Italiana possa essere utile prima della traduzione in Inglese.

Non me ne intendo, ma la mia esperienza personale è che il formato pdf è quanto di più simile ad un documento cartaceo (se funziona, ovviamente), con la possibilità di stampare fogli impaginati che prescindono dalla stampante installata.
Nelle abitudini dalla nostra PA questa è una caratteristica "psicologicamente" (e forse materialmente) positiva.

Anche questo è vero, ma secondo me non c'è nulla di male a citare brevemente la possibilità di diffondere documenti in HTML, quando appropriato.

Io sono d'accordo, anche se in genere la campagna PDFReaders si limita a suggerire lettori PDF liberi, e formati con essi compatibili. Spesso non ci sono buone ragioni per utilizzare documenti PDF anziché HTML, soprattutto in casi come questo (brevi documenti informativi). Quindi, in questo caso possiamo benissimo suggerire il formato html, se lo riteniamo!
