Munich, Germany (20 October 2004). A new campaign against software patents in the EU was launched today in 12 languages at www.NoSoftwarePatents.com. The campaign is managed by Florian Müller of SWM Software-Marketing GmbH, a software industry veteran with almost 20 years of expertise, and is supported by three corporate partners: 1&1, Red Hat, and MySQL AB. The campaign manager will discuss the issue of software patents with politicians and the media.

Is there a site that is backed by companies (such as www.nosoftwarepatents.com) that actually lists names of companies (particularly SMEs) against software patents? If not, could we put up a list?
My thinking is (obviously) that it would be nice to wave a list of company names at politicians when they state that patents are good for European business.

I've asked around here and it's cool for MKDoc Ltd. to go on such a list.

P.S. We GPL'ed the last of the code last month and have put up a community site for those that are interested http://www.mkdoc.org/

I've created http://www.ifso.ie/cgi-bin/wiki.cgi/IrishCompaniesAgainstSoftwarePatents on our Wiki. If anyone knows companies who would like to be publicly listed as being against software patents please add them. Please be sure that you have written permission to do this, we don't want to misrepresent anybody.
I'll send out a call on ILUG for companies to add later today, if no-one objects.
Hey all, Adam informed me that his company is actually based in the U.K. so I widened the scope of our company list. It's now for European companies, with a section per-country. My reasoning for sectioning the Wiki like this is because I think politicians would like to see how things might effect the local economy without digging through a list of non-local companies.
Anyway it's here http://www.ifso.ie/cgi-bin/wiki.cgi/EuropeanCompaniesAgainstSoftwarePatents
Hopefully we can get the word out and see a few companies list themselves.
