So, I took a little time to cross-reference the EU election results and see how the Irish MEPs now stand. Here's the results of a quick look at http://www.elections2004.eu.int/ep-election/sites/en/results1306/countries/i... cross-reffed against http://www.ffii.org.uk/votes/swpat/IE/s.html :
name/party: FFII "score": (higher=better)
a. FINE GAEL (PPE-DE) Simon COVENEY TD Mairead MCGUINNESS Avril DOYLE 58.41 Gay MITCHELL TD Senator Jim HIGGINS b. LABOUR PARTY (PSE) Proinsias DE ROSSA d. FIANNA FAIL (UEN) Brian CROWLEY 76.11 Liam AYLWARD TD Eoin RYAN TD Sean O'NEACHTAIN 76.11 e. INDEPENDENTS Kathy SINNOTT Marian HARKIN TD f. SINN FEIN Mary Lou McDONALD
A lot of people with no established voting records there. And Ciaran's voting recommendations: http://www.linux.ie/pipermail/ilug/2004-June/015940.html
Area Vote #1 and #2 East Avril Doyle Eoin Dubsky
Avril Doyle (FFII score: 58) got in, Dubsky didn't.
South Brian Crowley Gerard Collins
Crowley got in (FFII score 76), Collins didn't.
North West Sean O'Neactain
Got in (FFII score 76).
Dublin Patrica McKenna Ivana Bacik
Both eliminated. However Prionsias De Rossa (Labour) got in, and did note in a letter to the Irish Times that he was anti-swpat, good news.
Unfortunately, Gay Mitchell (FG) also got in, and is quite pro-swpat. :( Some re-education needed! ;)
