Hi,
A week ago, I sent an email to the list with a brief update on my Freedom of Information request to the NSAI regarding various aspects of their decision to vote 'yes' in the OOXML process. Today I received a letter acknowledging my request. It is dated 22 May 2008, and looks like a form letter. (I wonder how many FOI requests the NSAI gets?) It explains the FOI process, and gives the relevant dates as follows:
Your request date 22 April 2008 [...] was received by the NSAI on 29 April 2008. [...] you can expect a decision letter to issue from the NSAI not later than 28th May 2008.
I'm not quite sure why it took a week for my letter to get to them, but it does look like it might be early June before I hear their decision, or, if I hear nothing, can appeal their 'refusal by non-response'. I'll keep this list informed.
Ben.

Any update on this?
It seems there are now complaints from Denmark, Venezuela, Brazil, India, South Africa, and the UK. It'd be interesting to know if we have cause to join that list.
Groklaw.net seems to have the best coverage of this ongoing issue.

This story appears to be about Becta taking MS to the EU, rather than an ISO complaint. Has the UK complained to the ISO?

Nothing yet, no. I was going to give it another day or two and then submit an appeal against their refusal by non-reply to grant my request. Assuming this does indeed turn out to be necessary, they have three weeks to respond. I'll let the list know as things unfold.

Still nothing in this morning's post, so I've written to them again (by registered post this time), making an internal review appeal. They have three weeks to respond, which allowing for post back and forth might stretch to four. My next step after that is an appeal to the Information Commissioner, if I am not satisfied by NSAI's response (or lack thereof). I'll keep the list up-to-date.
