Hallo ihr Fellows und Felinen,
ich weiß nicht, ob ihr davon schon gehört habt, aber es gibt jetzt dieses neue, soziale Netzwerk mit dem Namen "nebenan.de".
Die wollen, dass sich Nachbar_innen in (separierten) Nachbarschaften vernetzen (können). Man registriert sich dort und tritt im besten Falle einer bestehenden Nachbarschaft bei (oder gründet eine eigene). Mit anderen Nachbar_innen kann man sich dann dort unterhalten oder Sachen an- und verkaufen oder Veranstaltungen bewerben, etc.
Die Seite hat, wie ich finde, ein gutes Design und lässt sich gut bedienen.
Zudem scheinen die großen Wert auf Privatsphäre und Datenschutz zu legen. (Die haben sogar eine extra E-Mail-Adresse, an die man "Sicherheitsprobleme" melden kann) So kann man Nutzerprofile nur als angemeldete_r Benutzer_in sehen und die treffen auch einige Vorkehrungen, dass sich möglichst nur Anwohner_innen einer Nachbarschaft in der jeweiligen Nachbarschaft registrieren.
Außerdem schalten die nicht (wie z.B. Facebook) einfach irgendwelche Werbung, sondern wollen "zukünftig an Möglichkeiten arbeiten, den lokalen Einzelhandel und lokale Services in die Plattform einzubinden."[1]
Was mir sehr gut gefällt, ist, dass sie OpenStreetMap benutzen.
Allerdings war es das mit den Vorteilen leider auch schon wieder. Denn die Plattform an sich ist proprietär und abgesehen davon, dass sie OSM eingebunden haben, scheinen die von Freier Software noch nicht gehört zu haben. So fordern sie in einer Ausschreibung "Gute [sic!] Kenntnisse in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)".[2]
Allerdings suchen die einerseits noch Entwickler_innen, die ihnen helfen bei der App-Programmierung helfen (Dies wäre eine gute Gelegenheit innerhalb des Teams darauf hinzuarbeiten, dass die Apps als Freie Software veröffentlicht werden)
und andererseits denke ich, dass es sich bei diesem Netzwerk echt lohnen könnte, wenn man sie anschreibt und versucht davon zu überzeugen, ihre Software und ihre Plattform als Freie Software der Öffentlichkeit zur Verfügung zu stellen - gerade wenn es viele Leute sind, die sie anschreiben.
Ich denke, diese Plattform wäre eine große Bereicherung für die "Freie Software"-Community.

Bei diaspora z.B. kann ich das über Aspekte nachbilden und mit openstreetmap kann ich selbst dafür sorgen, daß Alles, was in meiner Nachbarschaft vorhanden und interessant ist eingetragen ist. Da bedarf es dann auch keiner Werbung, die immer mehr oder minder irreführend oder verlogen ist. Betriebe die sich darstellen wollen, können sich ja auch in openstreetmap eintragen und u.A. auch die Adresse ihrer Homepage eintragen, wo dann u.U. Werbung zu finden ist. Der Nachteil ist, daß man das selbst machen muß. Man muß also seine Bequemlichkeit überwinden. Vielleicht versuche ich das mal für meine Nachbarschaft.

Das Problem ist wie immer bei diesen Angeboten, daß sie ein Geschäftsmodell brauchen. Das scheint hier das Schalten von lokaler Werbung zu sein. In den Nutzungsbedingungen habe ich Folgendes gefunden, was üblich für mich aber nicht akzeptabel ist:
"3.5 Du bleibst Inhaber deiner Inhalte (z.B. von dir auf „nebenan.de“ veröffentlichte Fotos, Kommentare oder Beiträge). Soweit an deinem Inhalt ein Schutzrecht besteht (z.B. ein Urheberrecht an einem Foto oder Text), gewährst du uns mit deiner Nutzung von „nebenan.de“ das nicht-exklusive, zeitlich und räumlich unbeschränkte und, soweit hierfür erforderlich, übertragbare Recht, den Inhalt zum Zweck des Betriebs von „nebenan.de“ zu nutzen."
Und "4. Änderung der Nutzungsbedingungen
4.1 Mit deiner Zustimmung oder wenn deine Zustimmung nach den folgenden Bestimmungen als erteilt gilt, können wir die mit dir vereinbarten Nutzungsbedingungen anpassen (z.B. bei Einführung neuer Funktionen). 4.2 Wenn wir die Nutzungsbedingungen ändern möchten, teilen wir dir dies mindestens sechs Wochen vor dem vorgeschlagenen Wirksamwerden in sog. eröffnet wie üblich aber auch nicht akzeptabel die Möglichkeit, die Nutzungsbedingungen im Laufe der Zeit beliebig zu verändern. Es scheint mir, daß hier wieder der bekannte Weg gegangen wird: Ein nach außen nettes, nützliches Angebot, das der erste Schritt auf dem Weg zum Geldmachen ist. Dazu muß ich erstmal genug Nutzer und Nutzerinnen dazu bringen, es zu nutzen. Dann werden die Nutzungsbedingungen mit der Zeit so geändert, daß die Geldquelle zu sprudeln anfängt. Es tritt dann der facebook-Effekt ein. Ich kann da nicht raus, alle meine Nachbarn sind da drin.
Ich meine also: Das ist nichts für die FSFE. Wenn man so was will, mit den vorhandenen Freien Möglichkeiten selbst aufbauen.

Die Debatte um die Notwendigkeit eines konkreten Netzwerks ist meiner Meinung nach nicht fruchtbar. Was ich mit meiner Aussage meinte, ist die Nutzung von örtlich eng gebundenen und überschaubaren Netzwerken, die sich aber mit anderen zusammenschließen. Diaspora wäre natürlich eine Initiative, mit welcher so etwas schon heute gut realisierbar wäre, aber bei dem die Pods momentan eher durch Interessen oder größere geographische Gemeinsamkeiten geprägt sind.

Danke für's Nachschauen. Artikel 3.5 und 4.1-3 gehen in der Tat von bedenklich bis hin zu untolerierbar. Du könntest Recht damit haben, dass nebenan.de weit mehr Probleme als nur proprietäre Software und eine zentrale Struktur ausweist und aufgrund des unsensiblen Denkens Mühe eher verschwendet wäre.
Aber wenn jemand Muße hat, sich dessen anzunehmen und kluge Argumente ins Feld zu führen, wäre eine Antwort sicherlich interessant. Ein Ausruhen auf dem Fakt, dass eine ähnliche Funktionalität schon mit Freie-Software-Alternativen möglich wäre (aber bisher wohl nicht nicht probiert wurde), würde ich nicht als Argument für's Nichtstun gelten lassen.

Aus meiner Sicht muß man unterscheiden zwischen Finanzierungsmodell und Geschäftsmodell. Ein Finanzierungsmodell kann z.B. aus Spenden, Gebühren oder Finanzierung durch eine Stiftung bestehen. Entscheidend ist, daß keine Gewinnabsichten bestehen. Werbung scheidet für mich da eher aus. Bei Werbung muß man sich ja immer fragen, was führt dazu, daß der Werbetreibende glaubt, daß die jeweilige Plattform seinen Umsatz fördert. Werbung, die kaum über reine Sachinformation hinausgeht, z.B. für Bücher, ist für mich durchaus akzeptabel und hilfreich. Je mehr die Sachinformation verlassen wird, beginnt für mich aber die inhaltliche oder optische Irreführung oder Lüge. Das will ich auf diaspora* nicht. Wer sich dort bekannt machen will, kann einen Account anlegen und etwas spenden. Wenn die Sachinformation verlassen wird, kann man den Account ja ignorieren. Bei einem Geschäftsmodell ist das grundsätzlich anders. Da wird immer eine Ware angeboten und etwas mit Gewinnabsicht verkauft, was nichts Schlechtes sein muß, wenn ich z.B. eine Dienstleistung oder gute Lebensmittel zu einem fairen Preis anbiete. Bei facebook und Co. ist ja das Problem, daß die Ware, die zum Verkauf angeboten wird, die Daten der Nutzer sind. Das sogenannte soziale Netzwerk hat NUR den Zweck, diese Daten zu generieren. Erfüllte es diesen Zweck nicht (mehr), wird das bisherige Angebot fallen gelassen und durch ein anderes ersetzt. nebenan.de scheint mir eines der Netzwerke zu sein, daß in der Perspektive versucht, auf diesem Weg Geld zu verdienen. - Mich interessiert z.B., ob die netten Leute auf der Startseite von nebenan,.e reale Personen sind. Wenn nicht, ist das schon die erste Lüge.

Was man direkt und ohne Aufwand tun kann, ist sein persönliches Umfeld möglichst genau bei openstreetmap zu erfassen und zu aktualisieren. Das kann dann eine Grundlage für ein Nachbarschafts-Netzwerk sein. Nachbarschaft ist ja zudem in jedem Einzelfall etwas Anderes. Sei kann nur künstlich begrenzt werden.

Die hatten, wenn ich mich recht erinnere, in unserer Nachbarschaft ganz penetrant mehrfach Werbung an jede Haustuer geklebt. (Ich reagiere empfindlich auf erzwungene Aufmerksamkeit.)

Fuer mich sieht das trotzdem nach einem ganz gewoehnlichen Geschaeft aus: wertvolle soziale Netzwerke im echten Leben zu erfassen und verwerten. Solange es sich nicht um ein non-profit handelt, muessen wir davon ausgehen, dass das Geschaeftsmodell hier nicht “Altruismus” lautet.
Hier wird wieder eine Plattform fuer zielgerichtete Werbung geschaffen. Dass es sich um “lokalen Einzelhandel und lokale Services” handelt, die diese Werbe-Plattform nutzen werden koennen, halte ich nicht fuer besser. Personen, die mir ungefragt Werbung in den Briefkasten werfen, gehoeren meist auch zu ebenjener Gruppe.
Nenn mich zynisch, aber ich sehe darin nichts besonders Unterstuetzenswertes. (Jedenfalls nicht mehr als bei anderen Unternehmen.) Monetarisierung von Kommunikation und Finanzierung ueber Werbung finde ich traurig, weil es unseren Status als Konsumenten verfestigt.

Ich glaube, dass sich freie Zeit besser darauf verwenden laesst, dezentrale Kommunikationsmittel zu foerdern, statt noch einer “sozialen Netzwerk”-Werbeplattform Unterstuetzung zukommen zu lassen.
Ich denke, diese Plattform wäre eine große Bereicherung für die "Freie Software"-Community.
Warum? (Da das ja nicht dezentral ausgelegt ist, haette man damit kaum Moeglichkeit, praktische Softwarefreiheit auszuueben.)

Ich kannte das bisher nicht, sehe aber keinen Grund zur Annahme, dass sich dieses Netzwerk irgendwie von anderen unterscheidet. Zumindest in Sachen, die in Sachen Free-Software oder free data relevant sind.
Spontane erste Überlegungen meinerseits waren diese Fragen:
- Kann man seine gespeicherten Daten verbindlich löschen oder behält sich der Betreiber eine weitere Speicherung vor? (Antwort in Ziffer 3.5: zeitlich unbeschränktes Nutzungsrecht)
- Kann man seine Daten in einem maschinenlesbaren und dokumentierten Format exportieren? Ich mutmaße nein, um es zu testen müsste ich denen meine Daten geben.
Das, verbunden mit Ziffer 3.4 - Man darf selbst nichts gewerbliches damit anstellen - macht es doch völlig unattraktiv.
Ich dachte die Zeit in der jeder immer das social-network-of-the-week ausprobieren muss ist längst vorbei. Ich habe mich bei nahezu keinem angemeldet, die meisten sind eh wieder unter gegangen. So wird es auch hier sein.
