Jeder Betreiber einer Plattform erfordert in der Regel für die Veröffentlichung von Inhalten unter dieser Plattform eine Registrierung bei seinem Dienst. Jeder 08/15-Mailman erfordert eine Registrierung bevor man auf dort gehosteten Listen etwas schreiben darf.
Das nur als Info bevor man hier auf Google schimpfen mag. Wer seine Mailingliste dort betreibt, zwingt seine Mitstreiter zu einer Registrierung bei Google, da kann Google nicht wirklich was dafür.
Der reine Lesezugriff ist über Web anonym möglich und wird in einigen Fällen auch über Dienste wie GMANE ermöglicht. Ob das für die genannte Liste möglich ist habe ich nicht geschaut.

Wir haben Kunden die nichts anderes nutzen außer Mailinglisten und dann eine entsprechend angepasste Gebühr bezahlen. Da wir unser Webinterface komplett selbst erstellt haben, ist es für uns einfacher, alle Einstellungen über einen Benutzeraccount abzuwickeln. So müssen wir diesbezüglich keine Sonderfälle einprogrammieren.
Auf Anfrage können wir natürlich viele Dinge im Benutzeraccount so konfigurieren dass sie nicht nutzbar sind. Diese Anforderung gab es bisher aber noch nicht.
Aber: Jetzt geht es dir plötzlich um das Betreiben einer Mailingliste, nicht das Anmelden auf einer Liste. Das ist nochmal etwas anderes.

Unter lstsrv.org hoste auch gerne Listen -- Allerdings Gesichtskontrolle für Listen durch mich. Danach normales Mailman für $listenadmin. Denke mal, dass es da noch mehr gibt, die das machen.

Der Provider Uberspace bietet ebenfalls Ezmlm an neben vielen anderen Programmen, die für ein Freie-Software-Projekt hilfreich sein können.

Das Problem beim Google-Account ist, dass man nicht einfach eine E-Mail-Adresse "geschenkt" bekommt, sondern auch etliche persönliche Angaben machen muss - bis hin zu einer Handynummer. Zumindest war das vor einiger Zeit noch so, das fand ich extrem abschreckend. Vielleicht hat Google das auch schon gelockert.

Wenn es um eine Mailingliste für ein Freie-Software-Projekt oder ähnliches geht, könnte Savannah helfen. Oder auch SourceForge, aber Savannah hat keine so überladene Weboberfläche. Da registriert man sich, meldet ein "Projekt" an, und kriegt dann kostenlos etwas Webspace, eine einfache Mailman-Mailingliste, und so weiter:
Soweit ich weiß, kann man dort auch Nicht-Software-Projekte anmelden, in einem gewissen Rahmen. Aber das müsste man erfragen.

Das ist richtig und ich will mein Posting auch nicht so verstanden wissen, dass ich Google völlig okay und unbedenklich fände.
Ich hatte das Ursprungsposting zwischen den Zeilen so verstanden, dass es etwas ungewöhnliches wäre, dass man sich überhaupt anmelden muss um mit zu machen.
Zugegeben: Auch Mailman legt das Benutzerkonto manchmal implizit an wenn man sich per Mail anmeldet. Man denkt also dass man sich nicht speziell anmelden müsste, letztlich ist das aber automatisch passiert.

SourceForge wird aus meiner Sicht mit jedem Update unbrauchbarer. Für neue Projekte würde ich es nicht mehr verwenden und suche gerade nach brauchbaren Alternativen.
Die Mailinglisten funktionieren zwar (noch), es wird aber Werbung in die Mails injiziert, was ich nicht nur rechtlich für fragwürdig halte. Gefühlt wird überwiegend proprietäre Software beworben.

Im Wesentlichen darf jede freie Software gehostet werden, die nicht notwenig von proprietärer abhängt und somit auch auf einem vollständig freien System lauffähig ist. Das sehe ich jetzt nicht als große Einschränkung, ansonsten hat die Freie-Software-Welt nunmal wenig davon, weil die Abhängigkeiten die Freiheiten des Nutzers ja wieder einschränken würden ;)

ich habe das mal angesprochen, und festgestellt, dass der Titel der Wikiseite wohl missverständlich ist. Es geht wohl um Projekt-FAQs, nicht um neue Projekte an sich. Und Projekt-FAQs und -Wikis kann man nach wie vor nicht erstellen. Ich habe aber angeregt, dass klarer ersichtlich zu machen.

Das Projekt um das es mir geht (Privoxy) müsste nach meiner Interpretation Eurer Regeln abgelehnt werden und die Regeln widersprechen m. E. auch mindestens einer Anforderung von unserer Seite ('terms of service are "reasonable"').

Der Requirements-Link ist aktuell, ich habe nur den wesentlichen Punkt zusammengefasst. Welchem Punkt davon entspricht Privoxy denn nicht?
(btw. ist auch der zitierte Wiki-Eintrag aktuell, nur falsch interpretiert. Er bezieht sich auf die Erstellung von Projekt-FAQs, nicht von Projekten an sich)

Ausserdem gibt es da noch Gna! für reine GPL-Projekte, und dann kann man, je nach Affinität, seinen Code auch bei Fedora, Gnome, KDE oder Launchpad unterbringen, in rein alphabetischer Reihenfolge :) Die drei erstgenannten benutzen Git, Launchpad ist Bazaar.

Nein, diese Möglichkeit gibt es nicht.
Das stimmt so nicht! Überraschenderweise gibt es die Möglichkeit.
Als Beispiel bin ich ohne Google-Account auf dieser Liste: https://groups.google.com/a/bittorrent.com/forum/#!forum/bt-developers
Ob das Mail-Interface eine optionale Einstellung in der Gruppe ist bzw. wie man die Mail-Adressen für eine beliebige Gruppe herleitet, kann ich allerdings nicht sagen. In jedem Fall ist die ganze Gruppe mitsamt dem Mailinterface bei Google gehosted - der MXer von bittorrent.com ist der Google Mailserver.

Sowohl bei mailman, als auch bei den Google-Groups ist die Registrierung aber über ein reines Email-Interface, ohne Web-geklicke möglich. Die Email-Adresse wird in dem Fall natürlich mit bei Google verzeichnet und verwaltet, aber ein voller Google-Account hängt nicht daran. Speziell ist nach so einer Registrierung per Email kein Google-Login möglich, du gibst keinen Klar-Namen an, und stimmst keinen expliziten AGBs zu. In obigem Beispiel ist keine Verknüpfung zwischen meinem bestehendem Google-Account und dem Listeneintrag entstanden (nun gut, das sind ja auch verschiedene Mail-Adressen). Nebenbei sparst du dir die Browsercookies.

Das war in dem Fall bt-developers@bittorrent.com (der Mailserver der Domain läuft direkt über Google), für die Gruppe https://groups.google.com/a/bittorrent.com/forum/#!forum/bt-developers

Gibt es eine Möglichkeit, sich für eine Mailingliste bei Google anzumelden (subscribe), *ohne* einen Google Account zu haben?
Wenn der Betreiber der Gruppe Dich per E-Mail einlädt, geht das. Du kannst dann das Web-Frontend nicht im vollen Umfang benutzen, aber bekommst die Nachrichten per E-Mail und beantwortest sie auch per E-Mail.
Kannst du sagen, nach welchem Schema die Mail-Adresse der Gruppe entstanden ist? Ich habe das Feature nämlich auch schon gesehen, in meinem Fall allerdings mit einem separaten Domainnamen.
Ich glaube, René hat einfach eine Gruppe angelegt, und mich über die Weboberfläche eingeladen. René, liest Du mit?
Mich würde interessieren, wie man die Mail-Adresse einer beliebigen Gruppe herleitet.
gruppenname@gmail.com würde ich mal sagen...

Mann kann die Adresse in dem Web-Interface sehen unter "About this group" und sich abonnieren durch ein E-Mail zu schicken an [Group Name]+subscribe@googlegroups.com.

Danke!!! Das war der entscheidende Hinweis. Vielleicht habe ich mich nicht klar ausgedrückt deswegen. Auf jeden Fall bin ich bei der Gruppe nun dabei!

Jup, habe das gleiche Thema auch momentan in einem anderen Projekt.
Du kannst deine Mitgliedschaft auf der Mailingliste einfach bestätigen, auch ohne eine Google-Mail-Addy zu haben. Der Vorteil einer Google-Adresse ist einfach nur die zusätzliche Weboberfläche.
