Hallo,
hier ein kurzes Beispiel von eigenartigen Auslegung von Begriffen: "KNX is therefore the world´s only open Standard for the control in both commercial and residential buildings."[1]
Was daran seltsam ist: - - Öffentlich verfügbar sind nur wenige Teile des Standards.[2] - - Den ganzen Standard (ohne Updates) gibt es für 1000€.[3] - - Die notwendigen Tools um wirklich damit arbeiten zu können kosten 900€ für eine Einplatzlizenz.[4] ("Support of all popular 32- and 64- bit Windows® - operating systems") - - Das heißt aber noch nicht das man danach die Erlaubnis hat damit ein Produkt zu entwickeln und zu verkaufen. Membership kostet extra.[5] - - Wenn man das alles geschafft hat und noch nicht bankrott ist sollte das fertige Produkt natürlich noch zertifiziert werden.[6]
Der Standardisierungsprozess selbst ist natürlich auch nicht direkt offen.
Selbst Microsoft hat eine vernünftigere Vorstellung von open standards (zumindest in der Theorie).[7]

Nicht perfekt aber schon extrem viel weiter und offener.
Server ist Freie Software und basiert auf GNU/Linux. Die Organisation arbeitet daran, noch mehr Freie Software zur Verfügung zu stellen und die Standardisierung und weitere Öffnung voranzutreiben. [1]
Natürlich noch der "Underdog" in Vergleich zu KNX.

hab jetzt selbst nicht so den Einblick in digitalstrom, aber ich habe von Dingen wie Patenten und propritäre Datenübtragung gehört. Zumindest wurde es bei osdomotics als nicht frei genug eingestuft und es wird 802.15.4 verwendet mit 6LowPAN. Ist digitalstrom IP-based?

Nein. Die haben eine Technologie die auf der Stromleitung funktioniert, im Wesentlichen wird bei Nulldurchgang ein Bit gesendet. Geringe Bandbreite, aber für die Anwendung ausreichend und somit ohne Steuerkabel überall nachrüstbar und sehr viel günstiger als andere Systeme.
Die Technologie wurde von der aizo entwickelt und sie halten auf die Hardware noch ein Patent. Alles oberhalb der Hardware-Schicht wird geöffnet oder ist schon frei - insbesondere der Server, der die gesamte Logik abbildet.
Ist es perfekt? Nein.
Aber gleichzeitig hat auch GNU/Linux auf proprietären Unices angefangen und auch Intel CPUs sind bis heute nicht völlig patentfrei und es lassen sich damit trotzdem sinnvolle Dinge tun.
Ist also eine Frage der Entwicklung in die richtige Richtung, und ich sehe bei der aizo den Willen die Dinge weiter zu treiben. Nur kommen sie aus einem ganz anderen Hintergrund und einer anderen Kultur.
