ich halte 24.8 einen Vortrag über Smarthome mit freien Standards (http://programm.froscon.org/2013/events/1194.html) Hat jemand ein besonders anschauliches ("Killer-")beispiel für freie Standards.
Sonst nehm ich wieder die Standardbeispiele mit Internetprotokollen oä.
Würde gerne die Vorteile von freien Standards gegenüber offenen Protokollen einzelner Hersteller herausstreichen. Gibt afaik aktuelle verschiedene Hersteller die netzwerkfähige Haushaltsgeräte anbieten, teilweise auch mit offenen Spezifikationen.

Hallo Ich kenne Dein Auditorium und den Vortrag nicht, daher kann der folgende Vorschlag auch völlig daneben sein. Geh' doch bei dem Begriff Standards mal völlig weg von der Software.
Beispielsweise beim Auto gibt es den "Standard", dass die Pedale immer gleich angeordnet sind. Das war nicht immer so und das Umsteigen von einem Auto auf ein anderes war extrem schwierig. Google mal nach der Pedalerie des Ford Modell T. Ich glaube damit könnte heute keiner mehr fahren. Und ohne solche Standards gäbe es keine Autovermietungen und Fahrschulen hätten gewaltige Probleme. Es würde aber kein einziges Auto zusätzlich verkauft, wenn man für die "Idee" den Blinkerhebel und das Kupplungspedal links zu machen Lizenzgebühren bezahlen müsste.
Oder, ein wenig näher an der Software: Ladeanschluss bei Handies. Wie lange hat es gedauert bis die Hersteller sich auf eine gemeinsame Spezifikation geeinigt haben und wie sehr hat es den Nutzern gestunken immer zum Handy das richtige Ladegerät haben zu müssen? Und warum hat es so lange gedauert ? Weil jeder Hersteller dachte er kann mit geschützten und nicht veröffentlichen Spezifikationen dicke Lizenzen von anderen Herstellern abgreifen. Natürlich haben Sie was von wichtigen technischen Details genuschelt, die man nicht weiter geben dürfe, als ob der Ladeanschluss die Arbeitsweise des Handy offenbart. Statt dessen hat jeder eine eigene Suppe gekocht.
Wie gesagt: Ich weiß nicht ob das passt in Deinem Fall, es ist aber oft den Zuhörern leichter zu vermitteln was ein Standard ist, was das "offen" in diesem Zusammenhang bedeutet und wie wichtig diese Freiheit ist.

Danke, auf die Ladekabelsache hätte ich total vergessen Das Bsp eignet sich auch gut als rhetorische Frage in die Runde, Parallelen zu verschiedenen Sensoren verschiedener Hersteller lassen sich wohl auch gut ziehen.

Ich glaube ich habe neulich etwas gelesen, dass die Vereinbarung ausgelaufen ist. Vielleicht wird alles also bald wieder anders...
Ich verwende gerne auch Technologien als Beispiele die schon relativ weit verbreitet sind: Ist es nicht schön, dass ich mit meinem Telefon jeden anrufen kann, egal in welchem Land, egal welcher Anbieter und egal welches Telefon? Ähnlich kannst du E-Mail als Beispiel verwenden.

Da fällt mir gleich Videotelefonie ein, "Skype geht ja auch so" ... defacto Standards sind schrecklich.
Schreibe ja gerade zum selben Thema wie der Talk meine Bakk, beim Standard-Abschnitt Schreiben bin ich gleich mal über die zig Definitionen von Open Standard gestolpert und habe deswegen meine eigene Definition reingeschrieben (inkl. freie Impl. aber offener Standardisierungsprozess nur als nice-to-have)
Dabei musste ich über KNX recherchieren als Beispiel für einen "pseudo-offenen" Standard.
"KNX is the world's only open standard for home & building control" Nunja, selbst MS definiert open standards anders als die KNX-Leute.
Jetzt bräuchte ich um am besten darzulegen warum es gut für Innovation und lokale Wirtschaft wäre wenn jeder Standards verwenden könnte, ohne 1000€ für den Standards und 800€ für die Tools zu zahlen, irgendwelche Studien oä die den Effekt von echten offenen Standards und den pseudo echten auf die Verbreitung und Innovationsrate zeigen. :/

Nur das Skype eben nur mit Skype funktioniert. Die meisten Menschen würden wohl kein Telefonanschluss akzeptieren wo man nur unter Kunden des gleichen Anbieters telefonieren kann. Meiner Erfahrung nach sind das auch für Laien recht verständliche Beispiele.
