Samba, Apache, MySQL, GIT, OTRS - all diese Programme sind längst in deutschen Unternehmen und Behörden angekommen. "Sie gehören zur Standardausstattung", sagt Matthias Kirschner von der Free Software Foundation Europe, kurz FSFE. Auf den Büro-Desktops schaut es anders aus.

Das mit den "Microsoft-Alternativen" (im Text) ist natürlich nicht so schön.

auch an Schulen kommt freie Software teilweise zum Einsatz: GeoGebra z.B. habe ich bei uns an der Schule gesehen (ich bin dort "Hilfsadmin"). Firefox nutzen auch viele (Schueler und Lehrer gleichermassen). Aber das "OS" ist weiterhin Windows XP/2000. Letzteres gibt es eine Volumenlizenz fuer, ersteres weiss ich nur so viel, dass es ein paar Einzellizenzen gibt.
Office ist leider M$ 2k, kein LibreOffice, Adobe Flash/PDF Reader und PhotoShop (kein GIMP) kommen zum Einsatz. Fuer eine "Blender-AG" ist zum Glueck Blender installiert, nicht Maja oder dergleichen.
Und natuerlich muessen die Server M$ 2003 sein, obwohl ein Linux-System als Fileserver (wo die Images + Installationsdateien drauf sind) ausreichen wuerde.
Es gibt z.B. noch SkoleLinux ( http://www.slx.no/ ) und wird wohl auch an vielen deutschen Schulen eingesetzt, den Link dazu kann ich gerade nicht finden, es sind aber auch viele deutsche Schulen darunter.
Im Grossen und Ganzen: Gemischt, Windows ist ueberall "reingewachsen", Linux wohl eher der Exot (ausgenommen viele Unis vielleicht).
So mein persoenlicher Eindruck davon.

Antwort: Wir bekommen von Microsoft die Lizenzgebühren geschenkt, aber vielleicht können sie in ihrem Abschlussprojekt etwas mit Linux machen. Damit war für mich die Stelle gegessen, später kam dann sogar die Zusage, die ich abgelehnt habe...

Hallo,
ich war von 2003 bis 2011 Lehrbeauftragter für das Fach "Informatik" an der Fachhochschule Münster (Fachbereich Chemieingenieurwesen) tätig. Zu Beginn habe ich dort den Umgang mit Microsoft Office gelehrt. Nachdem dann aber die Version 3.0 von Open Office verfügbar war, habe ich die Lehrveranstaltung auf Open Office umgestellt. Dies war noch möglich, da die Datenverarbeitungszentrale der Hochschule auch Open Office auf dem PC-Pool installierte, wenn auch unter Windows. Ebenso wollte ich den Studenten Linux näher bringen und die Studenten zumindest 4 Unterrichtsstunden damit beschäftigen. Aber obwohl die überwiegende Mehrzahl der Administratoren in der Datenverarbeitungszentrale selber unter Linux arbeitete, war es dieser nicht möglich mir Linux zur Verfügung zu stellen. Es war nicht einmal erlaubt mit einer Life-Distribution wie Koppix an den Rechnern zu arbeiten. Dabei habe ich in den letzten 2 Jahren selber meinen beruflichen Arbeitsplatzrechner (Laptop in Dockingstation) auf Linux umgestellt und damit auch die Vorlesung präsentiert. Ich habe beruflich mit vielen Hochschulen und auch Kommunen zu tun. Ich stelle dabei leider immer wieder fest, dass selbst dort wo man eigentlich erwarten sollte das sich Linux am ehesten durchsetzt, eine Stagnation eingetreten ist. Zwar betreiben viele der Administratoren an den Hochschulen ihre Server überwiegend mit Linux und sie selber arbeiten auch oft auf dem Desktop damit, aber sobald man sich außerhalb des Expertenumfeldes bewegt ist Windows das OS der Wahl. Ausnahmen bilden hier lediglich die Fachbereiche rund um "Informatik". Als einen wesentlichen Grund dafür habe ich die "Campus-Lizenzen" ausgemacht, da diese oft so günstig sind, dass bei den klammen Mitteln der Hochschulen dort kein Anreiz besteht "Linux" zu nutzen. Selbst die Studierenden kommen heute damit sehr günstig an Ihr legales Windows 7 und ihr MS Office. Das hat Microsoft sehr clever angestellt. In ihrer Jugend nutzen sie Windows über die Lizenz des Rechners den sie gekauft haben, in der Hochschule werden sie mit günstigen Lizenzen versorgt und wenn sie später im Beruf tätig sind, spielen die Lizenzkosten kaum noch eine Rolle, da die Leute so an Windows gewöhnt sind, dass ein "Umlernen" auf ein freies Betriebssystem der Firma im ersten Moment mehr Kosten und Aufwand verursacht als Nutzen. Und den Umlernprozess sollte man nicht unterschätzen. Ich arbeite seit 6 Jahren an Linux-Servern, aber der Umstieg auf dem Desktop hat mich ein 3/4 Jahr gekostet bevor ich mich dort so heimisch gefühlt habe wie vorher auf meinem Windowsrechner. Dennoch möchte ich den Schritt nicht missen, denn Linux überrascht mich selbst heute immer wieder mal und die Community z.B. bei Ubuntu ist großartig und sucht ihresgleichen ;-)

Danke, dass Du Dein Erfahrung hier hereingibst. Wir arbeiten ja als FSFE genau daran, sie hier weiterzubringen, die Freie Software! Obwohl es viele Defizite gibt, ist es erstmal eine gute Nachricht, dass Freie Software schon bei ganz, ganz vielen angekommen ist. Das bekannt zu machen ist sehr wichtig, den GNU/Linux System sind fast überall.

Ein zweiter wesentlicher Grund schein aus meiner Sicht auch darin zu bestehen, dass gerade die Administratoren das zu einem Thema gemacht haben. Hier gibt es zwei Effekte: Einmal mögen es viele Technik-Kenner gern, Ihren Bereich zu beherrschen und auch technisch zu vertreten. Gerade die Nichttechniker fühlen sich dann schnell bevormundet. Deshalb haben diese zweitens meist organisatorisch durchgesetzt, dass sie die unvernüftigeren Lösungen von Microsoft erhalten. Eher des Gefühls der Kontrolle wegen. Da raus würde nur helfen, wenn viele Techniker aus der Sicht der Nutzer auf die Frage blicken, deren Probleme anerkennen und dann vorsichtig weiter in Richtung Freie Software helfen.

Weißt Du woran es gelegen hat? Das mit den Life-Distributionen klingt nach Sicherheitsvorschrift.

Versuch das mal bei einem 1-Euro-"Job" ... Mir stand da zur Auswahl: - Datenpflege bei einer Kirche (das Archiv digitalisieren) - Systempflege "Hilfsadmin" an einer Schule (das koennte ein Systemintegrator blind machen, okay) ODER: - Parkpflege
Ich selber habe den Fachinformatiker auch gemacht, nur mit Richtung Anwendungsentwicklung (mein Traumberuf schlicht hin!), was willst du dann nehmen?
Aber hier jetzt ueber Politik reden, kommt vom Thema ab. Was geschehen muss, ist ein Umdenken bei den Verantwortlichen und das geht bis ganz nach oben (Bildungsministerium z.B.). Dort gibt gibt es die Software "LuPo", irgentwas mit Abschluss machen (lernen) oder so. Einmal raten: Kein Java/GTK/QT oder andere "plattformunabhaengige" Programmiersprache, sondern unter Visual C# ist es geschrieben und das wird so rausgegeben, vom Staat. Okay, etwas politisch schon, wo ist das die Produktunabhaenigkeit (in Hinblick auf OS-Wahl) des Staates?
Wenn ich mal ein Kind haben sollte, dann werde ich dem Kind ein Linux vorsetzen und dann lernt es mehr als M$. Meinetwegen kann es in der Schule M$ verweden, aber bei mir zu Hause nicht, auch nicht wenn es mit Dateien nach Hause kommt, die nur auf M$ Visual C# Programmen laufen (unter WINE vielleicht mal eine Ausnahme).

Oh all'mein Verständnis; erst finanziert das JobCenter eine (durch mich selbst vorgeschlagene) Fortbildung LPIC1+2 (bbq.de) .. darauf folgte ein EineuroJob in der Altenpflege/Altenheim. Nach vier Wochen hatte ich die Zusammenhänge der Umverteilung (Arbeit/Zeit/Geld) recherchiert, bekannt gemacht, gestreikt .. .. es ist nur frustrierend, aber die Freie Software - Bewegung hilft ;-)
Vielleicht schlägst Du im JobCenter mal eine Fortbildung - etwa bei BBQ - für Dich vor (versuche einen Dozenten namens Udo zu bekommen).

@Politik: Ich glaube genau diese müsste den ersten Schritt machen. Limux ist ein guter Anfang aber zumindestens da wo ich arbeite (Öffentlicher Dienst) ist zwar bei der Zentrale ein drang zu OpenSource (was die Außenstelle in der ich arbeite eher belächelt^^ ("Frickelsoftware")), aber ingesamt wird viel Geld verprasst, welches man gut für solche Sachen ausgeben könnte. Gott sei Dank ist es wahrscheinlich, dass die Zentrale uns unseren Exchange Server nicht erlaubt XD
Meinst du nicht, dass du das deinem Kind überlassen solltest, sobald es alt genug dafür ist es selbst zu entscheiden. (Bis dahin würde ich allerdings auch Linux vorsetzen ;) )

Wenn es alt genug ist, ist es mir fast egal: Auf eigen gekaufter Hardware ist es mir egal, auf meiner laeuft weiterhin nur der Pinguin. :)
Nicht dass es mit einer Windozer-CD ankommt und mein Linux wegformatiert, dann haengt aber der Haussegen schief.

GeoGebra ist ein schönes Beispiel. Schön, auch deshalb, weil es dafür bereits Lehrbücher gibt. Das Neuste [1] erschien im September letzten Jahres.
Es gibt aber zahlreiche weitere FS, die auf unterschiedlichen Plattformen verwendet werden kann [2].

Ich weiß nicht wie akkurat [3] die Karte ist, aber es sind auf jeden Fall etliche Schulen, die auf Skolelinux setzen. Auf den Mailinglisten liest man immer wieder von Neuzugängen.
Skolelinux ist allerdings nicht die einzige GNU/Linux Distribution, die in Schulen eingesetzt wird. Es gibt noch Seminarix, Edubuntu, Baden-Württembergs Musterlösung paedML, Univentions Komplettlösung UCS@school und weitere [4].
