Den Punkt möchte ich gerne unterstreichen.
Der Begriff Freie Lizenz macht für mich bei Software Sinn. Es sind alle Software Lizenzen die es erlauben die Software zu Verwenden, Verstehen, Verbreiten und zu Verbessern.
"Freie Lizenzen" bei anderen Werken würde ich ungern verwenden. Weil es meiner Ansicht nach nicht allgemein klar ist, welche Freiheiten eine Lizenz für andere Werke dem Nutzer geben soll.
Aber genau diese Kriterien, "Verwenden, Verstehen, Verbreiten, Verbessern", kannst du doch auf jede Art von Daten anwenden!
Und das musst du sogar, selbst wenn es "nur" um Software geht. Denn gerade Software ist ein komplexer Verbund von vielen Arten von Daten. Jede GUI hat Grafiken und Textbeschriftungen, und jedes gut geschriebene Programm enthält Teile, die eher an Prosa in einer Fremdsprache erinnern, als an abstrakte Rechenschritte.
Bei Computerspielen wird es noch extremer, da kannst du zwischen der Software und dem künstlicherischen Aspekt gar keine Trennung mehr ziehen. Und dass du 3D-Modelle, Musik, etc. aus einem Spiel auch einzeln verwenden kannst, liegt eher an sauberer Programmierung, und weniger in der Natur der Sache.
Spätestens, wenn die Daten allesamt echtzeitberechnet sind (wie etwa in Demos / Intros), kannst du überhaupt keinen Trennung mehr von Code und Daten vornehmen. Was macht eine bestimmte Teilszene aus? Die Generatorfunktionen? Die Anfangsparameter?
Das heißt, eine Lizenz, die für Software geeignet ist, ist _erst recht_ auch für alle anderen Arten von Daten geeignet. Nur dass dann z.B. in der GPL etliche Passagen irrelevant werden.
Wie wäre es damit: Unter einer Freien Lizenz versteht man alle Freie- Software-Lizenzen, sowieso sämtliche andere Lizenzen, die zu ihnen kompatibel sind.
Oder anders: Ein Freies Werk ist ein Werk, dass man problemlos in einem Freien Software-Projekt verwenden kann.
Was ist daran unklar?
