angesichts von 10Mio PC/Quartal scheint das aber nicht mehr als ein Tropfen auf den heißen Stein...:-(
Angesichts der Tatsache, dass DELL seine Rechner nur unter www.dell.de/ubuntu mit GNU anbietet, nicht aber, wenn man den normalen Bestellweg geht, ist das aber auch nicht so verwunderlich. Würden sie direkt als Auswahl in ihrer Konfiguration Windows und Linux anbieten, (und bei Ubuntu - X€ dastehen), würden die Zahlen anders aussehen. Ich kenne mind. einen, der sich einen DELL mit Vista gekauft, das komplett entfernt und dann Debian installiert hat, weil er nicht von dem Ubuntuangebot wusste.
Ich habe mir so eine Inspiron-6400-Kiste (2GB RAM, 7200UPM HDD, WXGA True Live Display - wie bei den Vaios, Pentium Dual-Core a 1.7Ghz) mit Ubuntu gekauft und muss sagen:
Meine Vorurteile wurden echt enttäuscht! Ich habe Dell ja immer gehasst, weil sie lange Zeit kein AMD hatten und immer ziemliche Microsofties waren. Aber für den Preis (knapp 700 incl. Lieferung) ist das echt top: Die Verarbeitung ist ziemlich stabil (okay, es ist kein Thinkpad oder Vaio, dennoch wirklich sehr gut), von der HDD hört man fast gar nichts (nicht nur dass sie sehr leise ist, sie kommt aufgrund der 2GB RAM und ihrer Schnelligkeit auch fast nie zum Rödeln) und das Display ist ein Helligkeitstraum. Compiz Fusion läuft auch absolut flüssig darauf *ggg*. Eigentlich ist er auch recht leise, ab und an aber ein wenig aufbrausend. Alles in allem: Sehr cool. Wird sich zeigen, ob er hält, was seine Stabilität verspricht, ob er lauter wird mit der Zeit, ... usw.
