EU-Parlamentarier verletzen Trivialpatente
Softwarepatente gehen jeden an. Und: Nicht nur Politiker, auch der
private Homepagebastler kann betroffen sein.
In Osnabrück konnte am Samstag dem 28. Mai
eine globalisierungskritische Stadtführung verfolgt werden.
Mit kleinen Theaterszenen wurden an sechs Stationen verdeutlicht,
welche Auswirkungen die Geschäfte an anderen Teilen der Welt haben.
Da zog etwa 40 Leute an.
Denn wer anderes handeln will, der kann.
Software durfte dabei nicht fehlen.
Vor der Filiale einer Buchhandelskette zeigten drei Schauspielerinnen,
wie ein Softwaremonopolist einen Nutzer an der Leine hat.
"Sie helfen uns in Peru und wir bauen die Bush Stichwörter ein...."
"Kritisches Flugblatt fertig! WIE? Speichern geht nicht????!"
Freie Software zeigt den Ausweg.
Organisiert und durchgeführt wurde die Aktion von attac Campus Osnabrück.
Diese Gruppe hat zum Nachmachen einen entsprechenden Stadtführer
geschrieben, welcher sogar mehr als die sechs Stadionen enthält.

Das pdf hat dabei mehr Inhalt als die HTML Variante.
Meiner Kentniss nach, wurden einige der Texte mit OpenOffice geschrieben
und die Karte im Umschlag wurde mit der Freien Software Skencil bearbeitet.
Ich bemühe mich darum, auch die Freie Software-Theater-Szene zu bekommen.
Vielleicht kann das Beispiel in anderen Städten Schule machen,
denn wir müssen noch mehr Menschen erkären, wie Software unfrei machen kann.

Before starting with the details, a few words about my own experience as
an FSFE intern:
If you've followed my blog, you will have an idea of what I did with my
time. The FSFE is a great place to work, and I've enjoyed almost every
single day. In few other companies or organisations would I have had the
chance to do useful work and learn in an international context like I
did here. Take this chance, if you can.
*Job description*:
The intern will work as the only dedicated full-time office person of
FSFE, as well as take the role of an assistant to FSFE's president.
This involves - among many other tasks - implementation of PR activities
and communication with contacts from the community, NGOs, and industry,
as well as general office tasks. The intern will coordinate volunteers
and FSFE team members during work on various projects. She or he will
also manage the president's travel plan and occasionally accompany the
president on his travels.
*Requirements*:
- interest in and passion for Free Software, as well as a solid basic
knowledge of the concept
- organisation and improvisation skills
- ability to integrate into young, motivated and professional team
- good working knowledge of English, other languages welcome, ability to
understand/speak German is a plus.
- basic acquaintance with working on GNU/Linux systems - alternatively,
you will be migrated at the start of your internship.
- no programming skills required. Basic HTML knowledge will do. An
affinity to technology and willingness to learn are indispensable,
though.
- internship duration: four months minimum.
- Starting date: As soon as possible. Preferrably tomorrow ;-) (You had
better get used to this sort of deadline.)

Hallo,
ich möchte hiermit auf das Wiki auf deshalbfrei.org hinweisen, welches
sich zum Ziel gesetzt hat, über Freie Software und freie (Datei-)Formate
aufzuklären.
Die Idee eine Art Enzyklopädie über FS im Wiki-Stil zu schaffen, finde
ich klasse. Vielleicht fühlt sich der/die eine oder andere motiviert

Hello all,
LinuxTag is coming... As most of you probably now, LinuxTag 2005 will
take place from 22nd to 25th of June 2005. LinuxTag [1] ist one of the
most important events dedicated to Free Software in Europe.

Like last year and in the years before, the FSF Europe will be present
with at least one booth at LinuxTag 2005. To man the booths, we are
looking for volunteers and/or Fellowship members interested in Free
Software and support of the FSF Europe.
The main work will be to answer questions and involve the visitors in
interesting discussions related to many aspects of Free Software. We
will sell T-Shirts and something like that in our merchandising zone,
too. And we are planning to present the Crypto card currently used
within the Fellowship, as well as the Fellowship itself at a separate
booth.
Please give me a short note, if you are interested to help us. A short
statement about the time frame in which you would prefer to help us
would be a good idea, too.

Microsoft unterstützt Linux - virtuell

MÜNCHEN (COMPUTERWOCHE) - "Wir werden künftig Nicht-Windows-Systeme mit
unserem Virtual Server unterstützen - auch Linux", versprach
Microsoft-Chef Steve Ballmer anlässlich seiner Keynote auf dem jährlich
stattfindenden Microsoft Management Summit. Der Linux-Support für
"Virtual Server 2005" werde mit dem für Ende des Jahres erwarteten
Service Pack 1 ausgeliefert. Zwar können bereits heute Anwender
virtuelle Rechner ohne Microsoft-Betriebssysteme unter dem Virtual
Server einrichten. Redmond gewährte bislang jedoch keinen Support für
diese Konfigurationen.

Auskunft des Vertriebs war allerdings:
1. Ja, das Gerät kommt ohne Software.
2. Zu Linux können wir keine Aussage machen, da wir nur Windows einsetzen.
Aber vielleicht liesse sich ja über entsprechend geballte Anfragen etwas bessere Unterstützung erwirken (z.B. direkte Suchmöglichkeit auf der Website etc.)
