Hallo,
was ist eigentlich mit Wikimedia Commons [2], dem Medianarchiv der
Wikipedia? Es ist zwar ähnlich zentralistisch wie Youtube & Co, enthält
dafür aber nur Inhalte unter freier Lizenz.
Finanziert wird es, soweit ich weiß, ausschließlich aus Spendengeldern
und falls jemand Bock haben sollte, kann er oder sie gern an der
Verbesserung der Plattform mitwirken. Gute Ideen sowie Leute, die sie
auch umsetzen, werden immer gesucht.
Außerdem kann man die Videos, Audiomitschnitte, Bilder etc. auch gleich
in Wikipediaartikeln verwenden.

nein habe ich noch nicht gefragt.
Ich habe mir erstmal die Legitimation von meiner Schwester geholt
nachfragen zu dürfen, da es für meinen Neffen ist.
Ich würde es aber gerne Nachfragen.
Ich würde gerne mit euch zusammen einen eMail/Brief verfassen und auf
diesen Missstand hinweisen, insbesondere da ich ihm eigentlich
hautpsächlich mit Ubuntu und LibreOffice an das Thema Rechner
heranführen wollte...
Ich würde auch gerne mal Ansprechen warum als Tablet auch nur Windows
oder iOS erlaubt ist...

Erinnere ich mich richtig, daß das Problem hier in der Diskussions-Liste als
Gerücht und als nicht so schlimm abgetan wurde? Oder habe ich da etwas
gründlich mißverstanden?
Position der FSF ist jedenfalls, daß INTEL-Prozessoren nicht akzeptabel sind
und man dringend alle Projekte fördern sollte, die Freie Software als Ziel
haben. Aus dem Blog:

man Hoffnung haben kann, daß es verwirklicht werden kann, wie dem letzten
Update zu entnehmen ist:

habe gerade auf heise gelesen, dass nun die Volksverschlüsselung dank
Telekom und Fraunhofer SIT verfügbar ist (erst für Windows, andere OS
sind geplant).

Mehrfach ist in diesem Zusammenhang von "Open Source" Software die Rede,
denn ja, der Quelltext soll verfügbar sein (habe ihn aber nicht auf der
Webseite [1] gefunden). Aber von Freier Software, welche wir als Synonym
für Open Source Software betrachten, kann keineswegs die Rede sein. Ein
paar Auszüge aus der EULA [2]:
Fraunhofer räumt dem LIZENZNEHMER unentgeltlich ein zeitlich und
räumlich unbegrenztes, nicht - ausschließliches, nicht übertragbares,
nicht unterlizenzierbares Recht ein, die SOFTWARE für private Zwecke
kostenlos [...] zu gebrauchen.
Es ist dem LIZENZNEHMER nicht gestattet, die SOFTWARE selbst oder
Teile davon zu vervielfältigen, außer es wird ausdrücklich durch
diese Bedingungen gestattet.
Es ist dem LIZENZNEHMER nicht gestattet, die SOFTWARE selbst oder
Teile derselben zu modifizieren, anzupassen, in andere
Programmiersprachen zu übersetzen oder sie in ein anderes Programm zu
integrieren.
Mit dieser SOFTWARE werden personenbezogene Daten des LIZENZNEHMERS
im Sinne des § 3 Absatz 1 des Bundesdatenschutzgesetzes (BDSG) zum
Zwecke der Verarbeitung erhoben.
Was sagt denn eigentlich die FAQ [3] zu diesem Thema?
*Ist die Volksverschlüsselungs-Software Open Source?*
Das ist eine schwierige Frage, weil "Open Source" vielfältig
verwendet wird. Die Software ist "Open Source", in einem
umgangssprachlichen Sinn, weil der Quelltext offen gelegt wird. Sie
ist nicht "Open Source" im Sinne der Open Source Initiative. Dort
wird u.a. verlangt:
"Die Lizenz darf niemanden in seinem Recht einschränken, die Software
als Teil eines Software-Paketes, das Programme unterschiedlichen
Ursprungs enthält, zu verschenken oder zu verkaufen. Die Lizenz darf
für den Fall eines solchen Verkaufs keine Lizenz- oder sonstigen
Gebühren festschreiben."
Mit dieser Lizenz würden wir es nicht schaffen, die
Volksverschlüsselung dauerhaft für die private Nutzung kostenlos zur
Verfügung zu stellen.
PGP ist ein Beispiel für ein "Open Source" - Produkt, das nicht die
OSI-Definition erfüllt. Diese Definition kam erst 1998 auf, lange
nachdem der Begriff schon im Gebrauch war.
Aus unserer Sicht sind die Worte "Open Source" für die
Volksverschlüsselung nicht entscheidend. Uns kommt es darauf an, dass
sich wirklich jeder von der Vertrauenswürdigkeit der
Volksverschlüsselungs-Software überzeugen kann. Und das erreichen wir
durch die Offenlegung des Quelltextes.

*Unter welcher Lizenz wird die Volksverschüsselungs-Software
veröffentlicht?*
Wir sind dabei die Lizenz zu definieren. Das ist ein schwieriges
Unterfangen, wir bitten daher noch um etwas Geduld. Die Lizenz wird
auch festlegen, ob und wie andere sich beteiligen können und wie wir
mit Hinweisen auf Sicherheitslücken umgehen, sollten solche gemeldet
werden.
Interessant ist, dass Teile der Software auf Programmen u.a. unter den
Lizenzen GNU GPL (Open eCard), Apache 2.0 oder MIT (Bouncy Castle),
aufbauen, also Freie Software.
Schade, dass der Vertrauensvorsprung durch Freie Software von
renommierten Instituten nicht genutzt wird und aus eher fadenscheinigen
Gründen selbst laxe FLOSS-Lizenzen nicht den Ansprüchen genügen.

Bisher konnten Internetanbieter (ISPs) in Deutschland bestimmen, welchen
Router Kunden zur Verbindung mit dem Internet nutzen können. Nutzer
hatte keinen Einfluss auf diese Entscheidung. Das ändert sich ab dem 1.
August diesen Jahres. Ein neues Gesetz erlaubt es Verbrauchern, das
Gerät frei auszuwählen, das in ihren vier Wänden installiert wird. Die
FSFE möchte sicherstellen, dass alle Kunden über diese neuen Rechte
Bescheid wissen und bittet um Nutzerberichte, wenn ISPs versuchen, die
neue Rege zu umgehen.
Routerzwang beschreibt das Vorgehen, Nutzern bestimme Geräte
aufzuzwingen und ihnen die Verwendung alternativer Router für die
Verbindung mit dem Internet zu verbieten. Zwangsrouter fallen oft
negativ mit kritischen Sicherheitslücken auf, die Nutzer aus technischen
oder rechtlichen Gründen nicht selbst beheben können. Sie sind auch
dafür bekannt, zu einigen Netzwerkgeräten oder Standards wie IPv6
inkompatibel zu sein, oder nur eine geringe Anzahl wichtiger Funktionen
zu unterstützen.
Trotzdem war die rechtliche Lage lange unklar und Internetanbieter
erklärten das erste Gerät nach der Telefon- oder Antennendose, d.h. den
Router bzw. das Modem, zum Teil ihres Netzwerks. Sie konnten dadurch
Nutzern verbieten, die Technik bei sich zu Hause zu kontrollieren,
obwohl Kunden etwa die Stromkosten für diese Geräte zahlen müssen.
Die Free Software Foundation Europe arbeitet seit 2013 an einer Lösung
dieses Misstands und war letztlich erfolgreich[1]: Vom 1. August an ist
es Kunden deutscher Internetanbieter gestattet, jedes beliebige Endgerät
zu verwenden. Egal ob es sich um eine DSL- oder Kabelverbindung handelt,
der ISP muss alle Informationen bereitstellen, um einen alternativen
Router zu verbinden und damit Internet und Telefonie zu nutzen.

Das Gesetz ist eindeutig bezüglich Ihrer neuen Rechte, aber aufgrund der
Erfahrungen der Vergangenheit mit ISPs muss die FSFE davon ausgehen,
dass viele Internetanbieter die neue Regulierung ignorieren und
versuchen werden, ihre Kunden zur Nutzung ihres Standardrouters zu
zwingen.
Die Internetanbieter werden wahrscheinlich behaupten, dass das Gesetz
nur Neukunden betreffe, dass die Internetverbindung mit alternativen
Geräten instabil sei oder denjenigen Kunden den Support verweigern, die
andere Geräte als die von ihnen vorgeschlagenen verwenden.
Wir möchten sicherstellen, dass solches Fehlverhalten öffentlich gemacht
wird und dafür brauchen wir Ihre Hilfe. Wenn Sie ein Kunde eines
deutschen Internetanbieters sind, bitten wir Sie, Ihr neues Recht
auszuüben und ein alternatives Gerät zu verwenden, idealerweise eines
mit einer Firmware, die Freie Software ist.
Sobald Ihr neues Gerät verbunden ist, bitten wir Sie uns zu berichten,
ob Sie irgendwelche Probleme mit der Nutzung des neuen Routers hatten.
Wir werden diese Informationen sammeln und Anbieter damit konfrontieren,

David Boddie hat einen schönen Beitrag über das EOMA68-Projekt
geschrieben, das gerade die 50.000 $ Marke bei der Finanzierung geknackt
hat. Vielleicht trägt das dazu bei, daß das Projekt mehr Fahrt aufnimmt.
Auch ich bin der Meinung, daß es das verdient hätte.

Dem Angebot des EOMA68-Projekts wurden zwei Karten mit weiteren
Betriebssystemen hinzugefügt. Zu bestellen sind nun Karten mit Devuan und
Fedora 24. Damit sind jetzt vier Betriebssysteme verfügbar. Der Entwickler
prüft, ob sich auch freedombox und SUGAR aus dem OLPC-Projekt angeboten werden
können. Sollte das gelingen, wäre das ein weiteres Alleinstellungsmerkmal des
Projekts. Debian raus aus dem Laptop, freedombox oder SUGAR rein. Toll
