Just a reminder about tonight's meeting in Brussels. Hopefully we'll be able to agree when to start the quarterly Sunday meetings, and we might also have an OpenMoko Freerunner phone there for people to see the current state of that project.
Café Walvis is now marked on OpenStreetMap: http://openstreetmap.org/?lat=50.85258&lon=4.34298&zoom=16&layer... It's 209 Rue Antoine Dansaert(straat)
All welcome.

Would it be possible to have some meetings in The Netherlands, I would love to attend some fsfe meetings. But Brussel is just a bit to far for more then 2 times a year (fosdem counts as one). I don't know how much fellows there are in The Netherlands and how we can merge these meetings with other free software movements to be effective.
Beste regards,
Jelle

Definitely! We just need to pick a date and a venue.
I've started organising meetings in Brussels and Dublin because they're two cities I know well, but the next on the list are Utrecht and then somewhere in France.
For larger meetings every three months, most Dutch people I've asked said that Utrecht is the most central location.
Maybe we should have one or two smaller meetings first. Is Utrecht also a good place to have a small meeting?
If we decided to have a meeting on Thursday August 28th in Utrecht, could someone suggest a quiet cafe near Utrecht Centraal?
(Because I don't know the Dutch free software community, I hope Dutch list members can tell me if August 28th clashes with any other meetings/events.)

I know that the Dutch Linux user group organizes meetings in Utrecht, maybe we can ask them to facilitate some starting meetings?
I had a few personal email suggestion, in response to my previous post, witch is great! If those people feel like it they can sent the message also to this list.
I want to suggest the following:
Maybe we can combine it with a Debian meeting and BBQ that I like to attend:
Saturday 16 August 2008 Dutch Debian birthday party Location: Scouting Shawano's, Oegstgeest, NL

This is the list for Northern France ( city Lille / Rijsel and Dunkerque).

One of the things the academic organise each year is a one day course in LaTex.

Some 4 years ago I heard there the french want to put their moneu in education of free software, and no longer in (expensive) licenses. French Parliament is now zexactly one year on Ubuntu. That's fine. A Microsoft employee that promotes free software for the education ministry of Flanders is a different thing...

It looks like some university/high schools (students) don't like to show that they are involved in here:
I posted it in a Belgian discussion group and a student talks about "trolls" oh well, go to your vista...
The other day, I told an investor (not a large one, but he's in some circuit of noise and fuss), that Barco uses a lot of free software and that I know what he thinks about that: that it must be dangerous. You can't give brains to those people... (the src of my statement: http://chiana.homelinux.org/~marc/publ.html In the years 1995, I was on netbsd with an Apple, and people from US military were using it too... ("in between bsd/sco wars"...)

For your information: The Open Community Camp is a Free Software event with camping. (and more then FS, there is c,mm,n the free car, http://www.cmmn.org/ )
The "camping" and "event" things mean it is not a regular venue with a stock of supplies that can be used the whole year. So it is important to announce your visit, so that food and drinks can be purchased.
Please avoid shortage of supplies by telling that you come to OCC. If you are only on saturday there, E-mail me stappers@debian.org or register/announce yourself at http://wiki.debian.org/Debian15th/NlOcc
Those who visit OpenCommunityCamp more days, should announce themself to OCC.
See you at OCC Geert Stappers

I Suggest to meet on 20 september on software freedom day.
We (the nllgg) organize a software freedom event in Utrecht with a keynote speech from "Shane Coughlan" from fsf-europe.
We should use that event to promote fsf-europe and take the time to meet each other.

We could also meet at Cafe Jos in Nijmegen again, which has proven to be a great place.

I can't be there on the 20th, but I'll ask Shane if he can organise this.

Ok, let's do that on Thursday August 28th at 20:00. Just a drink and a chat to talk about what's happening in the Netherlands and how FSFE could help.
As soon as anyone replies that they can come, I'll send out the annoucement.
Bas, is that date/time ok for you?
(A friend in The Hague said he could find a cafe for a meeting there, probably for September 5th or 7th. I'll inform this list when we have concrete plans.)

I hope I can make it, I am not sure because I have some important things at the August 27th that may require some additional work.

Yeah, it still is. I'm looking forward to it.

Great. Shane Coughlan and Rainer Kersten are both in Dusseldorf on the 28th, so they said they will drive up for the meeting too.

I hope I can make it but I am still not sure, I got an appointment in Rotterdam today and maybe I can drive to Nijmegen next.
