FOSDEM are proposing to publish a calendar of events around FOSDEM as the FOSDEM Fringe.
Some groups (e.g. XMPP) have traditionally had a summit or other

Would there be any interest in a general summit on RTC on the day
before
FOSDEM, maybe the whole day or just half a day?
From a SIP standpoint I would say there are a few things to discuss
- The use or no use of SIP outbound
- TLS implementations
- Updating the RTP infrastructure
- Using DANE for federation
- ICE and trickle ICE in SIP
- STIR - secure caller IDs - from a european perspective
Or we could go crazy and brainstorm a SIP profile without any ISDN legacy, just for federation use between different networks. Taking SIP back from the telco guys… :-)
Possibly a few other ideas that we’re not aware of.
If you say “RTC” that would imply including XMPP which has their own summit and it would be unfortunate to collide.
This would require organization, some offices to use and food stuff.
I already sent an email on the XMPP summit list asking them if they would like to factor this into their planning and possibly collaborate. Their are various things that overlap.
