Hi all,
I had a closer look at the FOSS4SMEs website and would like to leave and
share some feedback. Sorry in advance for nitpicking ;)
- The title could be changed to something different than a "welcome
to...". What about "FOSS4SMEs - Increase digital competency in small
and medium-sized businesses with FOSS"? This involves both the website
title and the orange text in the slider.
- foss4smes.eu/the-project on "Why FOSS":
- I would add the argument of vendor independence a.k.a. decreasing
vendor lock-in
- change "hardware" -> "technology", the control includes more than
just the silicon ;)
- foss4smes.eu/what-is-foss/:
- open source was rather created as a marketing term for Free
Software, not as an "alternative".
- I don't quite like that Free Software is described as an
alternative. Actually, all software has been FOSS until the 80's.
But I see that most readers don't know this nuance.
- Regarding the confusion about the different terms, this article [^1]
explains it quite well. This "interpretation" is equal to OSI's by
the way.
- foss4smes.eu/the-consortium/:
- It could be good to add some short descriptions of the partner
organisations to this page, next to the individual logos.
- If that's too much work, make the links of the logos go to the
partners' websites instead of the larger version of the image.
- foss4smes.eu/category/latest-news/:
- All news are from 19 April which doesn't really make much sense.
Could you please change the dates to fix the order?
- Technicalities
- The website should be accessible via HTTPS, so with an SSL
certificate. Otherwise visitors will see security warnings, and
search engines may downgrade the website
- The website includes external resources from google.com, vine.co and
twitter.com and therefore leaks visitors' data to those companies.
In the light of GDPR and our visitors' privacy, can we disable these
external inclusions?
- The menus sometimes lead to blank pages. For instance, a click on
"FOSS4SMES" and "FOSS BUSINESS USER" in the navigation bar.

Dear partners,
this is to inform you that I have just uploaded the IO1/A2 FOSS BU
Competence Profile in the our shared keybase folder.
You can find it under implementation -> Output 1 -> A2 -> FOSS4SMEs_ECVET
FOSS BU profile.
Thank you everyone for your valuable contributions and input to this
activity!
We have tried to do our best to put everything together and create a
consistent competence profile, adjusting the contents you provided in order
to make them look uniform.
To this respect, I kindly ask everyone to read the document and give
feedback where needed. You will find also a few explanatory comments at the
side of the text.
The last two Annexes are the standard templates for the Memorandum of
Understanding and the Learning Agreement.
The MoU will be signed by each partner as soon as the actual training will
be finalized, while the second one will just serve as a form to be used in
case of mobility (we don't have to fill it out because we are not actually
providing any mobility).
Please provide your feedback on the profile by the next Friday 6th July, so
we can finalise this deliverable in due time.

Please find enclosed and in Keybase the revised version of the FOSS4SMEs
Dissemination Plan. I am looking forward to your feedback.
I've clarified the distinction between Multiplier and Dissemination
Events, added rough dates for the former, and added links to the various
documents we meanwhile set up to keep track of the events and
activities.
There is also an update to the National Dissemination Plans. As agreed
on the mailing list, we won't require to create separate long documents
for them but collect the project partner's specifics in an online
spreadsheet. This is supposed to highlight our individual strengths we
can contribute to the overall dissemination. Please also have a look at
the other tables in this document which contain useful and required
information for all of you:

For your information, here's a list of deadlines and requirements you
are supposed to meet with regard to the dissemination:
* Fill in your "partners' strengths" row
* Conduct at least 1 Dissemination Event each project year, and document
them in the spreadsheet and with photos
* Conduct optional Dissemination Activities
* Contribute to the Stakeholders Matrix to help us addressing the right
audiences
* If your organisation will make a Multiplier Event in 2019, keep this
date in mind and ideally start organising the formalities soon
already.

I hope you are all doing well.
I am reaching out to you to address the following points:
1) While revising the different Country Reports for drafting the
Synthesis report, I have noticed that there is a lack of consistency between
them. In particular:
- FSFE and SKUNI: your reports have no visual representations
(graphs, charts, etc.) of the results of the Field Research. It would be
nice if you may add them where appropriate, to align with the other
countries and make the reports look nicer.
- OFE and DIT: we are all aware of the issues you have faced
regarding the allocation of responses within the English questionnaire.
However, since we promised 6 different country reports in the proposal, I am
afraid that we wont get away with the same text for what should be two
different Field Research. Therefore, I shall ask you to try and make some
adjustments to just dont make them look alike.
Please everyone bear in mind that the 6 Country Reports are the deliverables
foreseen for O1/A1, and as such they will be submitted to the NA (and, of
course, evaluated) by ATL for our Interim Report at Month12. Therefore, we
have to present them our work in the best shape :)
Once you are done with these adjustments (which I believe will take you a
very short time, you dont have to re-write things), we will proceed with
the Peer Review for OI/A1.
Please try to make it by the end of this week.
2) As per IO1/A2, I am attaching here the Guidelines drafted by DLEARN
about the ECVET framework and its application to our project. Please read it
carefully as it includes the template we are going to use to develop our
curriculum, plus some guidance on how to draft it. Please make reference to
page 46-47 of the attached PDF (provided by Katerina) for some valuable tips
and advice.

which I have prepared for us to work on the curriculum:

We will agree on the assignment of each Unit per partner during the call
scheduled for this Friday.
Dont get scared by the number of credits/hours allocated: the curriculum
will be a reference for a full-year course, but the contents developed by us
will still be for 1 credit (=25 hours) in total. We will discuss this more
in details on Friday.
