I'm a GNU lover and am interested in supporting your work. I live in Finland, would a donation be tax-deductable here and how should I go about it? Unfortunately I'm just a poor student but I feel obliged to contribute since I do all my computing on Free Software (Debian 5.0) and I really, really appreciate being able to do so.
thanks for your kind words and for your willingness to support FSFE! Donations like yours make it possible for us to do our work.
We've listed the various ways in which people can make a donation (essentially bank transfer with IBAN/BIC, credit card, or PayPal) on this page:

Unfortunately, I do not know whether a donation to FSFE is tax-deductable in Finland. FSFE is recognised as a charitable organisation in Germany and Switzerland. But I really don't know the what the rules for tax deductions are in Finland.
Let me put you in touch with FSFE's Finnish country team (in copy). They might not only know more about the question of tax deduction, they're also the right people to talk to if you want to become active for Free Software in Finland.
Again, thanks for your support!
Best regards, Karsten
Terve,
Valitettavasti verovähennysoikeus ei koske FSFE:tä, koska se on rekisteröity saksaan.

Hello,
Only donations to Finnish organisations can be tax-deductable, and even only those ones who have applied and been granted the status.
