Could FSFE consider covering travel expenses for me, if I was to go on a small "road trip" in Southern Finland, visiting several local Linux/Unix user groups and telling them about FSFE?
I'd estimate that the expense is around 50-100 euros per visited LUG. If I can manage to recruit at least one fully contributing fellow from each LUG, it would cover the expense.
I consider something like this acceptable, especially if you believe that will be cost neutral over a few month. But even then, we get the money in FSFE from donors to spread the word, so if we find people and opportunities to spread the word, we should IMO spend the money.
Of course Karsten should have the last say about this, and he needs to keep current cash flow and financial situation in mind while doing so. But I suggest to invest here.
So far the Finnish team has grown the Finnish fellow amount from 15 to 21 this winter, so there should already have been some extra income generated by us. It would be fair that the Finnish team would be allowed to channel some of it to local activities also.
Even if you did not convince more fellows to join in the past, we want local activities a lot! And your time will be much more valuable than the 50 Euros of travel costs. So thanks for the initiative!
