Mä olen tutustunut tuohon sivuun aiemminkin, mutta mä en ole koskaan oikein ymmärtänyt miten sitä käytetään. Jos vaikkapa haluan lähettää raportin omasta laitteistostani, niin ainakaan Debian/Ubuntun repoista ei löydy mitään valmista h-node-clienttiä. Jos h-noden sivuilla klikkaa "Discover your hardware" niin siellä on vain ohjeet miten manuaalisesti katsotaan yksittäisiä tietoja. Jos taas haluan ostaa uuden läppärin, niin sivulla http://h-node.org/notebooks/catalogue/en on ylimpänä jotain sattumanvaraisia läppäreitä vuosilta 2011 ja 2012, joita tuskin enää myydään ja muutenkin "compatibility with free software" ei ole tasoa A kaikissa. Käyttöliittymä pitää ensin opiskella ja sittenkin kun mulla on valinnat kohdallaan (http://h-node.org/notebooks/catalogue/en/1/1/undef/A-platinum/2013/undef/und...) niin tuloksena on yksi ainoa Asuksen läppäri, eikä sitä ole vertaa.fi mukaan enää ainakaan Suomessa saatavilla. Joten suositeltavampi tiedonlähde ainakin kokonaisten uusien koneiden hankkijoille lienee http://linuxpreloaded.com/
Ubuntu Friendly oli varsin potentiaalinen juttu siinä mielessä, että siinä oli helppo client-ohjelma jolla pysyi tekemään laitetestauksen ja raportoinnin mahdollisimman automatisoidusti. Valitettavasti ko. systeemissä oli paha bugi siinä, että palvelin ei ottanut kaikkia testausraportteja vastaan ja nyt ilmeisesti koko ohjelma on lopetettu sen takia, että he eivät saaneet riittävästi raportteja yleisöltä. Olisi varmaan kannattanut korjata se tiedonsiirtovika, itse ajoin testausohjelmaa useita kertoja vuosien ajan ja missään vaiheessa mun laitteiston raporttia ei tullut näkyviin testaustietokantaan..
