Hi all, I spoke with Christian today and to start with gathering more information about the countries. I would like to get an answer from you about the following questions. Best would be if you can sent me back the xhtml file attached with your country filled in instead of the German example. [Finland] perl lisenssin ehdot?

Hei, kyselen teiltä Perlin lisenssiehtojen soveltamisesta. Suomessa eräs valtion laitos on julkaissut graafisen käyttöliittymän, jonka avulla käytetään Phil Harveyn julkaisemaa ExifTool ohjelmaa ( http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/). Harveyn ExifToolia käytetään komentotulkin avulla ja se on julkaistu Perlin lisenssiehdoilla. Mainitsemani laitos jakelee ExifToolia yhdessä tekijänoikeusmerkityn GUI:n kanssa. GUI toimii vain ExifToolin kanssa ajamalla sitä samassa kansiossa. GUI + ExifTool -ohjelmistopakettia jaellaan ilmaiseksi, mutta laitos on kieltänyt paketin edelleenjakelemisen. Nyt kyselen, onko tämä edelleenjakelemisen kielto ristiriidassa avoimen Perl lisenssin kanssa? Entä mitä tietoja laitoksen pitäisi antaa ohjelmapaketin mukana, jos ExifTool jaellaan muuntelemattomana, tai jos sitä on muunneltu vain vähän. Ystävällisesti, Martti Kupiainen Vantaa

Hello, While trying to recruit new Fellows in Finland, several people have asked me the following questions: 1. Is it possible to donate so that the sum would be directed to the Finnish team or activities in Finland? If it is possible, please update the IBAN/SWIFT part on http://www.fsfe.org/donate/donate.en.html to describe how to do it. (At least Finns are unlikely to use PayPal, since IBAN/SWIFT is free and easy to use.) 2. What is the difference between being a Supporter and a Fellow? Don't answer me - I know the difference. Please rather reflect the contents of our website and think about why this is confusing to people. Specificly the donation page needs to be updated: http://www.fsfe.org/donate/donate.en.html The new contribute page is very nice, but still it does not tell about the differences of becoming a Fellow or just a donator. http://www.fsfe.org/contribute/contribute.en.html Additionally, it is confusing that as a Fellow you can choose how much (in €) to contribute - and a donator can do that too. Wouldn't we want everybody to become Fellows and contribute as much as possible rather than donators? Then the donation thing would be relevant only to companies and organisations. Also one group of people is those who cannot afford the Fellowship fee - they could rather choose to donate a smaller sum. One can earn the status as a Fellow only if they are willing to donate 120€ or more yearly. A second option would also be to drop the high Fellowship fee and just maximize the number of Fellows we have to increase our political weight. In that case a separate donation possibility would be needed (and marketed). Ok, so it seems that you agree on the idea above. I know the web team is probably working on restructuring the web page, so they might have better ideas in stock, but here are some small concrete suggestions how to improve the website regarding this matter: - Keep the Donate-text at http://www.fsfe.org/contribute/contribute.en.html (as Reinhard suggested). It is well placed as the last thing one would read. In general, I like the new Contribute-page very much. - Move "Donate" in the www.fsfe.org main menu below Contribute or maybe remove it completely, since there are many other ways to end up to the Donate-page anyway. - Rename the page "Thank GNUs" to something more common that is easier to understand to anybody, like "Donations" or "Supporters". Yes, I know that there are not just "supporters" but also "contributors" and "patrons" etc. but really, how many laughs at the joke embedded in "Thank GNUs"? The page could list both the donors and info about how to donate. Currently there are only indirect links to the donate page and those links are named "here" and "here" (link names should be more descriptive). - Add some text to http://www.fsfe.org/donate/donate.en.html that tells that it is intended mainly for companies and that individuals should rather consider to join as Fellows (as Reinhard also suggested). - Possibly even merge the "Thank GNUs" and "Donate" pages? The upper part of the page could explain that the supporter/contributor/patron means and the lower part could list them. (Tämähän on lobattu käsitys: kun hankinnassa ei saa vaatia Microsoftia niin eihän silloin saa vaatia avointa lähdekoodiakaan. Logiikka menee pieleen siinä, että Microsoft on yksi yritys ja avoin lähdekoodi on vapautta käyttäjille. Hankintayksikkö saa edellyttää haluamansa määrän vapautta, esim. vähemmän tai enemmän kuin mitä avoimen lähdekoodin määritelmä edellyttää.) Tästä aiheesta voisi järjestää tilaisuuden julkishallinnon hankkijoiden suuntaan. Pystyisimme keräämään esimerkkejä Euroopasta (Pariisin kaupunki edellytti tsiljoonaa koulua koskevassa hankinnassa avointa lähdekoodia), näyttämään ne kohdat JHS-suosituksesta, jotka nimenomaan toteavat tämän mahdolliseksi, ja tekemään oman analyysin tilanteesta.
